Firstly, in the book, it takes a long time for the boys to be rescued and there are many events shown to show the time passing, however in your movie there is almost no evidence of a large amount of time passing, in fact it almost seems like the children were rescued within a week instead of the months that they were actually on the island for. For starters, the book focuses on the boys’ lives and how the sense of civility is diminishing, in order for this to work however, there needs to be no adults on the island at all. So why have you included an adult in the film to accompany the boys for the majority of the time? While this makes no sense to someone who has read the book, it may make sense to someone who hasn’t yet read the book. Also, in the book, there is a large amount of animosity between Ralph and Jack which quickly develops into the splitting of the two groups, but once they’ve split they quickly grow distant and a miniature war forms between the two groups with Jack’s savages stealing from Ralph’s group and Jacks group having to fight Ralphs for even the smallest amount of fire. However in your film, while the boys do split, they remain friends and Jack’s group asks Ralph’s for fire instead of stealing it, the first real show of any actual splitting having occurred is when Jack’s group come sneaking into Ralph’s groups camp in order to take Piggy’s
