Jack, the protagonist, is posed
as a dictator throughout Golding’s story. Jack’s way of ruling and craving total control over the island demonstrates that he likes to have the power over the people. Although Jack is not at all organized, he has the control over the persons that follow him, by using forceful language towards his peers. Jack prefers his own opinion over others, and while anyone tried to voice their own, he would comment with phrases such as “Shut up, fatty!” (20), to get them to conceal their own ideas and / or opinions. Jack’s method of quieting represents evil and violence, and because of his ‘rebellious’ personality, resulting in him being an unfair leader with violent governing styles.
