Have you ever jotted down notes on a character that is important? If you have, that is great because you will get a better understanding of the book better. If you haven’t, you should start now. I’m reading Lord of the Flies and the protagonist of the story is Ralph. I would characterize Ralphy by naming his character traits and what he does that is significant. Read on to find out more about Ralph. Character traits for the protagonist Ralph are fair, decent, sensible, strong, considerate, and a leader. Ralph is fair because he listens to everyone’s ideas, especially Piggy’s in the beginning of the story. Ralph I think is
a leader because to be a leader you need to have the character of the traits above. Also, to be a leader, you need to take control of things and not watch things happen, you need to make things happen. On pg 15 it states, “Ralph said his small end of the shell against his mouth and blew. There came a rushing sound from its mouth and nothing more.” This was very significant because to me, it was just more than blowing into the conch, it was the first step to being a leader. He took control of this situation by blowing into it. When he blew in it, people on the island heard it and they came to him. This is where I think Ralph changed. He changed by being a normal guy to a leader.
