Los Angeles Lakers Team Paper
Los Angeles Lakers is a National Basketball Association (NBA) team based in Los Angeles, California. It is not only the successful NBA basketball team but also one of the earliest team joined NBA league. The Lakers is the reigning NBA champions after defeating the Boston Celtics in the 2010 NBA Finals 4 – 3. The Finals victory gave the franchise their 16th championship, placing them second in NBA history behind the Celtics’ 17. The Lakers also hold the record for NBA’s longest winning streak (33), set during the 1971 – 72 season. In addition, there were many players became famous or turned into super star when they played in Lakers, including George Mikan, Wilt Chamberlain. At first, the future team should notice that excellent team performance doesn't rely on individual skill. It is depending on reasonable distribution and rational cooperation. Groups should learn from other's strong points to offset one's weakness. As the leader of the team, he/she should set clear objective to specify each individual's role and position. Ensuring they know how the whole team is functioning. Leader takes the responsibility to design tactics and strategies according to one’s personality or characteristics. Like how supporting roles cooperate with the core role and how they would help each other within the game, the future team should create more opportunities for members to communicate and familiar with each other. As long as they are acquainted with and adapted to each players' style, the team would play smoothly. Then, leader could use individual specialty to achieve reciprocal advantages and positive spillover effect. Although there are defects existing in each basketball player, such as no outstanding technique or the physical condition is not as good as other, LA Lakers could win because they play team

    The features of effective team performance are set out in Brian Tuckman’s phases of team development theory, ‘Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing.’ This outlines the phases that a team will go through in order to become effective and reach maturity.
