Reading, gardening, and praying are three of my favorite activities. It’s in these moments I find my happy place. A nice solitary activity I find myself drawn to in my spare time. It seems sometimes we don’t get enough of these moments. Fortunately I have been blessed with the time to engage in these activities often. These rare moments where it seems as though for either a brief moment or entirety you’re solely focused on something of your choice.

Reading has been a passion of mine since a very young age. Whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, a mystery, educational, it was something that you never forget. It’s in these moments that you feel so connected to something else and has remained a #1 ranking for things to do in my spare time. Education is something I feel you can never get enough of and reading keeps your mind sharp and ready to learn, this is something I have also instilled in all of my children.

I began gardening in the summer of 2003, and I haven’t looked back since. I spent more time at Home Depot that summer than anywhere else. There’s nothing better than starting your morning in the yard wearing a straw hat and digging in the dirt. My love for planting runs deep, the happiness and feeling of accomplishment you get when you notice your tree is growing, or your flowers are blooming. The yard is truly my happy place where I can get lost for hours and show others my taste of design.

Last but not least is prayer, something that is so very dear to my heart and every aspect of my life. Prayer takes place at all times throughout the day, but in my spare time I could spend hours. There’s no greater feeling than sitting and talking with my lord and I love to share it with others. It’s a lasting sentiment to my days and comforting peace I have. Prayer keeps you strong and prepared to deal with everyday life, and I hope many others know the power of it.

These are just three of my favorite things to do in my spare time.

I feel like ever since I started to have memory of my life, books are always next to me. When I was a little boy, I only read the things that I was interested in. The reason of this is these books can make me keep focusing on reading. Looking back these days, I am impressed by how much benefits I earned from reading. I feel like reading helps me get ahead of others, and I guess this is why I still like reading in nowadays.…

Having the right man for the right job is imperative for corporate success. The person that installs the cabinetry for ABC Inc. is probably not the same person you want managing the financial responsibilities and obligations. Employees of ABC Complete Kitchens Inc. encompass a similar work ethic, professionalism and accountability however; their skills vary and need to be accommodated suitably within the company. Maintaining this level of expectation is imperative to achieve organizational success. Maturity, health, financial stability and the ability to compensate accordingly to current and long term fiscal challenges is the responsibility of the financial manager and within this organization or for ABC Inc. the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).…

Reading is my life. It’s my escape from the world around me. I love getting lost in a story about monsters and myths, or a Cinderella gone wrong. If I didn’t draw as much as I did, I’d probably be the anti-social bookworm in the back, like in all those cliche teenage love stories. It’s actually quite surprising to see how many people dislike books, there’s nothing wrong with a little reading every once and awhile. But who am I to judge? I wasn’t a very big reader myself until maybe two years ago. Of course, that leads to the first reason why I enjoy reading so much.…

Although there is much I can’t recall from my early days of reading, there are some momentous flashbacks. When I was beginning elementary school my parents were very eager to introduce me to doing a great deal of reading, they wanted me to enjoy reading for a while and they succeeded. We lived within walking distance of the public library which allowed us to frequently visit the library to read and check out books. I always remembered the vast shelves of books that seemed like they never had an end. In addition to reading at the library we checked books out to bring home to read, this allowed me to read as much as I wanted to. Correspondent to the amount of reading I did, the more I enjoyed it and improved at reading.…

I used to love reading. In kinder and first, my nose was stuck in a Magic Tree House book. Third, fourth, and fifth grade I basically lived at Hogwarts (in my rightfully sorted house, of course, I am a proud Hufflepuff). And in middle school, I discovered THE tween series of my generation, Maximum Ride. Reading was exciting, and even though I had done it for years every time I picked up a book it felt so novel. I was your ordinary bookworm until seventh grade when the joint power of Ms. Green’s teaching and James Patterson’s writing broke my will to read.…

Reading is an experience that every individual grows from differently. Whether it be a smooth transition or even a positive one depends entirely on the individual. Gerald Graff, Richard Rodriguez, and Eudora Welty all show their growth through literacy narratives. Each one of their experiences although different all relate to my own journey into literacy. My own transition from Dr. Seuss books, to being thoroughly interested in novels such as Kiss the Girls by James Patterson is a novel all on its own.…

My Math teacher made a difference on my reading life. He always had good books to lend me. My appreciation for reading increased with many books he suggested. I’m very glad he was in my life to help to develop my reading skills. Although, I had to learn a new language when I moved to United Sates. I still enjoy reading. My favorite books are the fiction books. I still enjoyed the feeling of traveling to different worlds and be part of adventures. I love to read because of my mother. When I was young I disliked reading and preferred to watch movies instead. To get me to enjoy reading my mother would read stories to me and I would read along with her. One day my mother read only classic books from our houses to San Antonio, Texas. We read Little women, Great Expectations, Treasure Island, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Ten Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, plus more. I remember how her voice made the words on the pages come to life. She would very her tone for each character and made each one unique. It was like watching a one man play. I soon wanted to read the stories by myself because I was always in a rush to know the ending; reading to myself was faster than my mother reading aloud to me. Every time I read I can still…
