Mutsuhiro seemed to target Louis, because he was a famous Olympian, and was an officer. Knowing that Zamperini was an officer created a monster of Mutsuhiro because he was not honored that position during the war. In the movie “Unbroken” Mutsuhiro made Louis carry a heavy plank, and hold it above his head. One single sign of weakness in the arms, or legs, Mutsuhiro would hit him with his long, terrifying stick. After the war had ended Mutsuhiro went into hiding, and was eventually found. Although Louis was not able to continue training for the Olympics, his life was filled with interesting events. In the article The rest of the Story: The Life of Louis Zamperini After ‘Unbroken’, after the Second World War, Louis developed PTSD and became an alcoholic to cope with the posttraumatic stress. Even though Louis had gotten married, and became a father to baby girl, he still drank and partied. In the midst of his addictions, he attended a “Billy Graham Crusade in Los Angeles” (paragraph 14). Being the first Crusade ever, Louis changed his life and became a Christian. Before going to the big event, Louis always had nightmare about the war, but after it, all the nightmare stopped. Louis would not drink alcohol again, after that night. Zamperini later decided to go and visit his old prison guards,and tried to meet with Mutsuhiro, The Bird. Finding out that Mutsuhiro did not want to see Louis Zamperini, Louis gave a message to him saying that he forgave him for what he did to him during the
