Museum Pieces
I visited a museum in Paris online called the Louvre Museum. I chose a museum
in Paris because they say it is the city of love and I would love to visit Paris one day. I
came across three items that caught my attention. The first item the that caught my eye
was this beautiful, amazing sculpture by Antonio Canova. The sculptures called "A
Closer Look at Psyche Revived by Cupids Kiss“. What caught my attention about this
piece was a man holding a woman ever so gently. Before reading the story behind the
sculpture, just by looking at it I assumed it was cupid because of his wings and arrow
pouch. It looks like some kind of love story and I love love stories! It looks like Psyche is
weak or just ever so grateful to have him there by her side. I feel like it symbolizes love
and that the feeling of being nurtured or cared for by a loved one. Looking at it makes me
feel safe and I feel like she feel safe to be in Cupid arms and I also feel that was Antonio
Canova's motivation for this piece, love.
The next piece that caught my eye were the "Bracelets of the Duchess of
Angouleme". The piece consists of two bracelets covered in red rubies and diamonds.
The creators of this beautiful piece of jewelry was Etienne Nitot and his son Francois-
Regnault Nitot, jewelers to the Emperor Napoleon I. How could this not catch my eye?
When looking at this beautiful set of ruby and diamond bracelet, it makes me feel like in
Etienne and his son Francois-Regnault made them for someone of royalty, which was the
case. I feel like whoever got to where them, which was the Duchess, felt some sort of empowerment, an important royalty feeling. They made the bracelets look like not any
one could wear them. They are very elegant and I'm sure whoever wore them looked very
elegant in them. I feel like the makers did an excellent job of making such a beautiful,
elegant piece and their motive
