Lsi Paper - 1
The life styles inventory is a survey of questions that help us to gain an insight into our own personality and what type of behaviors we exert to others as individuals. It helps us to look at the positive and negative qualities of our personalities and ways to improve upon them.

My First style is the Affiliative thinking style. The Affiliative thinking style is manifested in my work and personal life because I tend to value relationships. If I feel I am not forming interpersonal relationships at work with my coworkers then I do not feel very connected to my job. It makes me feel out of place and lost. In my personal life, I tend to feel the same way when I’m not participating in interpersonal contact. Moving to Chicago was a real challenge for me because I did not know anyone and I left all my friends in Washington DC when I moved there except for my aunt. All my family also lives in my home country, which also made my first few months here difficult. I felt very lost and unconnected to Chicago during the first few months after my arrival. Once I started to form personal relationships with people, I started to feel more centered. My secondary thinking style is the Self-Actualizing Style. This style is manifested in both my professional and personal lives. In my professional life, I continually strive to grow and always look for new ways to challenge myself. An example of this is that I am currently attending Graduate school yet still plan on trying to learn fluent English to help compliment my education. At work, I always try to find the most efficient way to complete my job duties when I feel I am not doing something productive. I know myself very well and take pride in that. I know what I can handle at work and in my personal life and I know what I can’t. I hardly ever commit to something I feel I can’t do. In my personal life, I value knowing myself and have a very good handle on my self-worth. My limiting style is the Perfectionistic

A review guide is just that, a guide. It is not a blueprint of what you will be tested on. This guide will consist of key points that have a very high probability of being on the quiz/test/exam that you will see. I feel review guides are important because students new to the topic may waste time and study the wrong materials. This normally leads to frustration and concepts not covered that are deemed important in not only passing this course, but what would/could be asked of the student in a real world situation.…

According to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), they “Empowers consumers with free information to help them exercise their rights and spot and avoid fraud and deception”. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/. Consumer protection policies can’t be designed based only on what policymakers think consumers need. They must be grounded in the reality of consumers’ lives, based on solid research that shows how people really act and interact with their financial services, and which provides insights into their vulnerabilities. For example, recent research in behavioral economics has revealed that all types of consumers can behave in certain irrational ways, impacting consumers’ ability to make sound financial decisions. These behavioral biases therefore have important consequences for consumer protection, pointing to the need for first-hand consumer research to measure these patterns and test the effectiveness of consumer protection tools, such as disclosure forms, in their presence.…

The primary LSI thinking style, which I had during the survey, was a conventional style of thinking. This style listed items such as that I am restrained, very conventional and avoids conflict. Now these appear to show very defensive thoughts. I do believe that there are items that show that, but I am not only these thoughts; I am also very respectful of others, I also enjoy being recognized by superiors for the efforts that I do in my line of work and I am reliable and steady. These are also thoughts that influence my thinking style.…

Throughout my life, I have dedicated myself to act selflessly and always attempt to best represent my community. The Larner COM commitment to service aligns with my philanthropic views of healthcare. In my experience volunteering at a local homeless clinic, we ask each patient: “If you could not have come here, where would you have gone?” Many patients’ answer is nowhere. The involvement that students maintain in the local Community Health Center of Burlington provides an opportunity to work with populations similar to those I have assist in Colorado.…

In the book, Down the Asphalt Path, Clay McShane constructed an argument trying to disprove the theory of “technological determinism”. This is the idea that technology influences society, society doesn’t influence technology. Although the author has many views against the premise, he is not entirely correct. In my opinion, the car shaped the landscape of American cities. More arguments can be made to prove technological determinism and how it has changed society.…

When I took the LSI I was it recognized two strong personal thinking styles. My primary (highest percentile score) and back-up (second highest percentile score) personal thinking styles are oppositional and dependent. The oppositional scale measures ones tendency to use the defensive and aggressive strategy of disagreeing with others, and to seek attention by being critical and cynical. Oppositional people typically love to argue and have a fear of getting close to people. In general, this style is characterized by: the ability to ask tough, probing questions, a tendency to make others feel uncomfortable, a tendency to seem aloof and detached from people, and a need to look for flaws in everything.…
