Luna Leaving Analysis

I predict that Regan and Luna’s mom and dad will be upset about Luna leaving. Their father was already upset when he found out about Luna. Their father wanted the perfect son and would do everything to make sure that happened. He always pressured Liam into doing sports. He would force him to go to tryouts and practices, even if Liam protested. Liam had always complied and made sure he did his best. He did not want to upset his dad. His father also reacted angrily toward Liam’s birthday list. On Liam’s birthday list there was only girly items and his dad disapproved. Liam asked them where the bras and dollies were but his dad screamed at him for wanting girly items. Liam’s dad wanted a perfect son, so when he came out, he was angry that he
could not have that anymore. Her father does not understand what Luna is going through either. His reaction consists of yelling and tension. When Luna comes upstairs to eat breakfast, her dad is speechless. He then asks her what is she as if Luna was not a person. Her father calls her sick when she tells him the truth and gets super angry.
He balled his fist up and it threatened to lunge forward colliding with Luna’s face. He gently released his fist and stared at Luna. When Luna went to leave, her father told her not to come back if she was going out like that. Luna went back into her room. Her dad’s reaction was to get drunk and be mad at everyone. He does not like that his son, is actually his daughter. Her mother acted oblivious to the situation. Although she knew that Liam did not want to be a boy anymore, she kept it a secret and forced him to hide himself. When Luna first comes up the stairs, she was on the phone. When she noticed that Luna was there and not Liam, she continued her work conversation and acted oblivious. She ignored the situation, even when it got brutal. She did not try to stop their father either. Because she knew that Liam was not a boy by nature, she invested her time into work to keep her mind off of it. She always ignored the situations with Liam and Regan, and forced them to figure it out by themselves. She ignored Luna on her birthday and made sure that she did not acknowledge the situation. Because she ignored them, Regan took matters into her own hands and confronted
her. Regan made sure she knew that she was turning her back on them, especially when they needed it the most; her mom chose to work instead. I predict that Luna’s mom and dad will be very upset with Luna but, overtime I hope that they can be more accepting and rebuild the relationship that was shattered.
