Luna Lovegood Character Analysis
Looking into the crowd in school I’ve always seen stereotypical high schoolers, but taking a step back from my normal outlook, I see teens who are just trying to make it in this world. High school is not the most loving and accepting atmospheres, believe it or not. It sadly doesn’t live up to the grandiose expectations that are depicted in movies. Everyone puts on a façade when really the people we are trying to impress are in the same boat. So why are we hiding? If there is anything that high school has taught me, it’s that uniqueness isn’t something to fear or hide, but something to embrace. Because of this, my eccentricity, thoughtfulness, and care free spirit most closely relates to J.K. Rowling’s Luna Lovegood. Luna Lovegood is one of Harry Potter’s most relatable characters. For example, when Harry Potter first sees the thestrals (only seen by people who’ve seen death), Luna offers her expertise and shares her backstory to comfort him. One of my closest friends went through a rough bout of depression her freshman year. She confided in me and I told her about my own experience with mental health issues. I, like Luna Lovegood, used my own personal anecdote to soothe a grieving friend. We are also similar because of our artistic and eccentric ways. Luna Lovegood is infamous for her quirky sunglasses and beet earrings. While I don’t don vegetable earrings, I have an eclectic sense of style and artistry.
