M-PESA Analysis
2. Individual Level

M-PESA’s initial individual level business model focused on the person-to-person transfers, but it has grown to include person-to-business and business to business transactions. The former transaction, person to person, is for facilitating individual’s access to financial services like mobile money transfer and the latter is for mobile payment involving business.

Person to Business (P2B) and Business to Business (B2B)
M-PESA has evolved into a payment platform that lets businesses send and receive payments. In P2B model, businesses use M-PESA to promotional payments, field staff disbursements, salary disbursements, dividend payments, and government agencies can send payments to and collect fees from people with the B2P

M-PESA’s B2B transactions have also led to business models that hadn’t existed before in developing economies, with many start-ups in Kenya. Around 700 businesses now use M-PESA in Kenya. Business owners use M-PESA to pay for business goods and services. Especially for the MSEs, which engage in the various businesses, above all, security and accessibility are the two indispensable factors leading them to use more of M-PESA, expand their business models and make a success at the end both for themselves and their …show more content…
One example is a Matatu SACCO in Murang’s opening an M-PESA window. M-PESA is considered a competitor to Matatus; before M-PESA’s launch, people sent money in envelopes on these minibuses to people in other towns. The manager said anytime there was an accident or some other mishap, drivers worried about the money being stolen, their safety being compromised, and reimbursing lost funds. Now drivers and owners prefer M-PESA because they say it has increased the drivers’ sense of security and reduced theft, and actually increased their business.
2. Business to Business
Another case of security, small business owners and street vendors would often come to their store at the end of their business day in order to deposit part or all of their day’s earning so that they would not have to worry about carrying large sums of money home, thereby taking advantage of the security by using M-PESA. The P2B model enables people to reduce the risk relating to goods and services. Individual obtain the same benefit they do in Person to Person context, and business receive more secure and timely payments.

In addition to skeletal muscle, this metabolic cooperation was also demonstrated between other extrahepatic tissues and liver. Indeed, like the glucose-alanine cycle, the glucose-lactate cycle is active between the liver and all those tissues that do not completely oxidize glucose to CO2 and H2O, in which case pyruvate for conversion to lactate or, by transamination, to alanine would lack (see below).…

Commerce: A three way tie-up between product vendors, technology partners and banks can enable customers to transact using their mobile phones or other handheld devices. But banks can go a step further by providing virtual banking advisory services on mobile, to guide banking customers through various processes for purchasing a new product or fulfilling some other need. By using mash-ups, they can overlay their applications on top of a bundle of services already being offered to customers – for example, building in their ATM network on a Yahoo Maps service, so that their travelling customers can easily find out where the nearest machine is located. The Way Forward Canadian banks are faced with the unique challenge of having to serve a customer base that moves location for a large part of the year. Their clients are also among the most diverse in the world. Therefore, they need to have a fail-proof strategy that keeps them on their customers’ radar despite a lengthy separation. A combination of international branch expansion and channel innovation should help them achieve this objective. In 2011, sixty-five percent of India’s population did not have access to a bank account (Global Findex 2011). India has the second largest financially excluded poor in the world with more than half of its population considered as financially underserved At the same time, India is one of the fastest growing markets for mobile phones. Given the rising mobile phone usage in the country, mobile banking (also known as M-Banking) has a great potential for enabling financial inclusion of the poor. India has attained near universal telecom access with one of the lowest–cost retail distribution networks. Among the myriad M-banking services currently underway, EKO’s Simplibank offers one of the most promising initiatives in mobile money operating on a low-cost banking platform. Launched in 2007 through a partnership between the financial services startup company EKO and the State Bank of India (SBI), this mobile money service initially operated as a pilot project in the cities of Delhi, Bihar and Jharkhand. By 2011, EKO had captured a wider consumer base as a business correspondent of SBI through its new product for domestic remittances. EKO partners with a network of agents—chemists, grocers, airtime vendors—to provide banking services to people with no access to formal bank accounts. This paper explores the everyday use and effects of EKO mobile banking. It discusses findings from a recently concluded study of 160 customers, 20 customer service points (CSPs)/agents, and key functionaries of EKO in Delhi. The research asks the following questions: What is the socio-economic impact of EKO’s mobile money accounts on the savings behaviour of low income target users? How do EKO customers perceive mobile money usage by contrast to existing informal and social savings arrangements? Has EKO’s mobile banking replaced, displaced, or dispelled…

Organizations depend on their business relationships with other organizations in order to stay competitive in today’s business world. Organizations tend to spread their business related projects to outside businesses to lighten the load on projects and cost that are done internally. Organizations allow other businesses to handle projects involving marketing, product distribution, and others that can be externally without direct contribution from the primary organization. Business to Business(B2B) messages are the common form of communication that is used between businesses. B2B messages can be either traditional mail, e-mail, or fax and commonly are the basis of any starting business relationship. These forms of B2B messages are used to communicate information between different locations and departments within organizations. Formal letters are still the most traditional means of common communication between organizations that do not utilize technology like email or fax. An employee that would like to request a vacation day would use a B2B message by e-mail to communicate with the supervisor. The sender or employee would expect a response from the message. The response to the message would either grant or deny the request of the sender in the business relationship.…

It’s ironic that in a world that has gone mobile, corporate treasurers and CFOs are still tethered to their desks because they need computer access to issue approvals using corporate Internet banking. While consumer mobile banking has soared in recent years ever since the smartphone arrived on the scene, its corporate cousin is yet to take off. However, according to various industry participants, there is significant untapped demand for corporate mobile banking, as those finance professionals who use mobile banking in their personal lives – not just on mobile phones but on a variety of devices including tablets – want the same convenience at work. This optimism is corroborated by a recent survey of 267 bankers, in which over 40% of respondents said that they would likely use corporate mobile banking to check account balance or transfer funds. The treasurers among them were even more enthusiastic – more than half said that they would be interested in advanced corporate mobile banking functions including transaction approval and payment initiation, and more importantly, a sizeable number were willing to pay for these facilities. All of which naturally leads one to ask why corporate mobile banking isn’t a raging success yet. The single largest reason behind the poor adoption of corporate mobile banking is a serious concern about data security. But now it is hoped that improvement in the security perception, convenience, experience and consequent adoption of consumer mobile banking will rub off on the corporate version to give it a fillip in the near future. What is Corporate Mobile Banking? Corporate Mobile Banking is currently an abridged version of Corporate Internet Banking. Some banks have developed in-house solutions to enable their corporate customers operate company accounts using mobile devices to fulfill a variety of functions including…
