MacBeth
The not so “Ideal” wife “Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be what thou art promised. Yet for I fear thy nature; It is too full o’th’ milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way” (Shakespeare 1.5.12-15). Lady Macbeth is the bad influence Macbeth has in his life that persuades him into killing King Duncan and rushes into being King. Before Macbeth became paranoid after the brutal death of King Duncan, he was a worthy captain of the kings army. “The service and the loyalty I owe in doing it pays itself. Your Highness’ part is to receive our duties, and our duties are to your throne and state children and servants, which do but what they should by doing everything safe toward your honor and love” (Shakespeare 1.2.22-27). Lady Macbeth did not have the faith that a natural wife would have in her husband; she did not believe that Macbeth would go through with a successful plot based on his lack of courage. She used her own greed and selfishness basically do it for Macbeth “That with hath made them drunk hath made me bold: what hath quench’d them hath given me fire” (Shakespeare 2.1. 1-2). Most importantly, this statement clearly illustrates that is was Lady Macbeth that had the direct motive to kill Duncan because she wanted riches that came with the title that Macbeth would earn. However, her husband, even though he was promised the title of King, needed convincing in order to actually kill Duncan. Consequently, it was Lady Macbeth that convinced Macbeth to kill Duncan, plotted the murder secretly behind Macbeth’s back when she received his letter stating the three witches prophecies, and had the actual ambition to take action “Th’ atempt and not the deed confounds us. Hark!-I laid their daggers ready; He could not miss’em” (Shakespeare 2.2.10-13). Lady Macbeth would have also murdered Duncan herself, and completed the assassination without the foolish actions of Macbeth, but she could not actually go through with the

Lady Macbeth is more responsible for King Duncan’s murder because she had higher ambitions than Macbeth. She forced evilness upon herself and her high ambitions pushed her to the point of no regret for murdering the king. Lady Macbeth says, “Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me from the crown to the toe topful Of direst cruelty”(1.5.30-32). This is a clear example of how her ambitions have driven her to the point of evil acts to commit this crime. The act of calling for the evil spirits in order to follow through with a murder is a good reason why King Duncan was murdered. Lady Macbeth also had not only forced herself to murder the king but to force her husband to follow through with the plan of the murder…

Lady Macbeth is completely at fault for the death and killing of Duncan. First, she poisons Macbeth with evil thoughts of killing Duncan. She threatens his manhood by saying he isn't savage enough to follow through with the act of killing Duncan, which is a big deal especially back then. Second, Macbeth is loyal to the king and the king is loyal to him. Whenever this happens Lady Macbeth would have to convince him otherwise. Also she asks god to”Unsex me here, fill me, from crown to toe, top-ful Of direst cruelty!” meaning make her be able to kill Duncan with all her strength and no hesitation. Lady Macbeth also asks “Make thick my blood”, and “come to my womans breasts, And take my milk for gall” this is basically her asking the gods to…

She had single handedly changed Macbeth’s mind when he had decided he was going to let fate take its course and solely let everything play out however it was going to. He was not entirely desperate to become king and was content with being the Thane of Glamis and the Thane of Cawdor, therefore he was not exactly intent on murdering the king to claim the throne for his own. Though, almost too easily, Lady Macbeth had convinced him that to become king, he had to murder the king and frame someone else-- it was their only course of action. Of course, she was more power hungry than the once humble Macbeth had been, so she had done the framing and most of the schmoozing. In fact, the only thing that even stopped her from murdering the king in the first place was that he looked similar to her father while he had…

He was going to let 'chance crown me king' (1:III:43), but Lady Macbeth knew that this wouldn't lead to anything. She also knew that Macbeth's sense of loyalty and honour could stop him from killing Duncan and therefore becoming king and fulfilling his ambitions. She urges him to 'look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't' (1:V:63-64). She also questions Macbeth's manliness, another weak spot of his. She knows that he doesn't like her doing this, and she knows that it's a good way of persuading Macbeth to do what she wants him to do - that it's a good way of manipulating him. But Macbeth wanted to be manipulated. He let his wife influence him. If he really didn't want to murder Duncan then he wouldn't have. Even before he spoke to Lady Macbeth he was having 'horrible imaginings' (1:III:37). Even though Lady Macbeth helped turn these into realities, she did not physically force her husband to commit murder. Once again, Macbeth had the freedom, power and ability to…

Although the play portrays the killing of King Duncan as a gruesome act (which it is), it fails to go into specific detail about Lady Macbeth’s role in this act. Lady Macbeth gave Macbeth the idea and method of killing King Duncan. Lady Macbeth ensured that King Duncan's death was short and painless, meaning that although it was a horrific thought and idea, some thought was given from Lady Macbeth about how King Duncan's death could be painless.…

Three witches prophesied that Macbeth would acquire the Scottish throne as well as two other titles. After his encounter with the witches, Macbeth who was once honorable and loyal, begins to sink into the depths of despair as he seeks the crown regardless of the consequences. Macbeth killed the king in order to get the crown for himself. His wife, Lady Macbeth, was his main influence. It was Lady Macbeth who actually convinced Macbeth to kill Duncan. Without her untraditional role in the play, one could argue that Macbeth may have never become king. However, one could also argue that Macbeth would have become king regardless of his wife because his jealousy would have driven him to kill Duncan in order to get the crown.…
