Taking over your thoughts
Macbeth’s fate was handed to him on a silver platter and he could do what he wanted with it. He had the power to let fear or courage control his thoughts and his fate. When something clouds your thoughts it can change your reasoning skills. Macbeths mind was filled with fear and it changed his life. You can see the fear take over him through the title of power and all the blood throughout the play.
When Macbeths fate was handed to him he had two options; one wait for the title of king to come to him or two take things into his own hands to become king. Macbeth choices the second option, he let fear cloud his judgment and choice to embark upon a murderous journey to become king. Fearing he won’t become king he makes the unwise decisions to kill King Duncan. This unwise decision can be seen through blood, “will all great Neptune Ocean wash this blood/clean from my hand?” These are the words he cries out after killing Duncan. He let the fear of not becoming king get in the way of his reasoning skills. This unwise decision that Macbeth makes ends up being the reason for his wife’s death. “Out, dammed spot; out I say, who would have thought the old man to have had some much blood in him?”(5.1.30-34) these are the words that lady Macbeth says while sleep walking. The guilt of her husband killing the king sits in her conscious. Macbeth allowed fear to take over and the consequences lead to his wife’s death. Blood is the perfect way to show what happens when you let fear take over your reasoning skills. After Macbeth kills the king, fear leaves his mind and it is filled with power. This is a new feeling for Macbeth he feels like a whole new person and he lets the power get to him. He will do anything to have that power as well, “My murderous thought is still only imaginary but it shakes my entire manhood so deeply that my power to act is smothered by expectation, and nothing
