was a really calm character who shortly changed due to individual occurrences. Eventually Hamlet had an encounter with a ghost, who he noticed it was his father. He originally did not have any plans or motivations to kill Claudius. However after the ghost reveals how Claudius was the cause of his father's Death, he then seeks vengeance against the king. The theme of madness on the other hand takes part shortly after Old Hamlet's death.
You can argue that the ghost is actually real and Hamlet isn't going crazy, he is just acting like he is. However, Hamlet is a very important and significant character in the play because he is the prince. He might be the only person that sees the ghost due to the fact that he might be very vulnerable that it's causing him to be delusional. Yet his friends agree with him because he is the prince and do not want to show that he is crazy. If that's the case, then Hamlet is really going mad because seeing the ghost is leading him to kill Claudius. There are other signs in the story that also show Hamlet's “craziness”. A major example is when he runs into Ophelia's room naked. Nevertheless, The theme of Madness was present in varied situations whether it being fake (acting), or
real. Hamlet very much reminds me of “The Lion King”. It's true that “The Lion King” is based on Shakespeare's famous play, Hamlet. However while reading Hamlet, it has a really strong connection to “The Lion King” in my head. There are many similar aspects between the two, however the significant ones also relate to the theme of revenge and madness. In “The Lion King”, Simba is the son of Mufasa; Mufasa was killed by Scar, his brother. Simba then seeks revenge on Scar for his father's death, just like Hamlet. Furthermore, while Simba was returning to his home, his father appears in a form of a ghost-like thing in the sky. This is also similar to an occurrence in shakespeare's play when Hamlet sees the ghost, which was his father. In conclusion, Hamlet is a very unique and interesting play with many different themes occurring throughout. Shakespeare has done an amazing job constructing and writing the play showing each character's emotions. I really look forward into reading the play to see how Hamlet grows as a character and what decisions does he make. Overall, there are many recurring themes in Hamlet making it very captivating.
