1) Sources of raw material for allied industries
As we can see from the minerals highlighted above, minerals are major source of raw materials in industries e. g gold used for jewelries, limestone for cement, and so on. Organic deposits like coal and petroleum products like natural gas are used in powering machines in the industries.
The raw materials are used in the production of household finishes like glass windows, aluminium doors, kitchen utensils like pots, spoons, etc.
Cars, machines, and household gadgets are made from some of these minerals.
2) Generate employment opportunities.
Beginning from the mining point, manpower is needed down to the use of the raw materials in the industries.
The presence of the minerals has brought food to the table of many Nigerians who are engineers, diggers, machine operators, entrepreneurs, managers and even medical personnel who take care of health incidents.
Advertisers, models, media houses are also employed in the course because manufacturing companies advertise their goods through them.
3) Lead to the development of town and cities
Manufacturing and mining companies sometimes help in constructing roads, building hospitals and schools which all lead to the development of towns and cities.
The employment of so many people will bring about a lot of development because so many things will be put in place to satisfy the needs of these people also creating employment for others and thus developing the area, e. g Transportation means, markets and plazas, business centers like phoning boots and even refreshment spots.
4) Sources of revenue
The export of these minerals like crude oil, coal, etc generate revenue for the government thus leading to the provision of social amenities like good roads, water, electricity, etc.
