Makeupjournal for Grad
January 14, 2013 journal; free-write
Today is Monday and it's the beginning of a new week. We only got 4 more months to go in our senior year! Well I don't have much to talk about but I'm very excited as to what's to come for the rest of the year. I'm trying my hardest not to fail math but it's very complicated and I didn't have a student aid before and now I do but it doesn't change the fact I'm struggling. I just want the year to be over so I can go to Puerto Rico and enjoy my summer with my family for once since I haven't had the chance with how busy everyone is. I look forward to the end of the year because a lot of people told me senior year was gonna be the easiest and it irritates me that it is probably the hardest thing I'm going through right now. Well that's all I wanted to really get off my chest so yeah. Bye.

We've been going over the Renaissance in English and I love it! I love the fact that we're talking about everything that has been going on. We're gonna read Hamlet and I'm actually excited because I haven't read it yet. I've read Othello, Romeo & Juliet, and Macbeth but I heard that Hamlet is really good. So I'm definitely looking forward to it. I can't wait until we get our books!

April 24, 2013 journal; how do you feel about the gender choice in Hamlet ( was absent )
I feel that they sort of make a negative portrayal on women because Shakespeare could have switched the genders around, Gertrude could have been Claudius and been the person getting with Gertrude's wife if Gertrude was a man and had a different name. I feel as though he made a lot of women sound like players and whores and cheaters and it wasn't really fair. So I

If I were to choose one of the characters from Hamlet it would be the main character, Hamlet. Hamlet is an enigmatic character, and even the most astute reader may say that he/she hasn’t really understood the character, and the reasons for which it acts .the speeches and actions of Hamlet lend themselves to numerous interpretations.…

While many will agree that Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night is critically acclaimed to be one of the most entertaining and well-liked pieces that he has written, there tends to be a discrepancy over how the characters in the play are portrayed when it comes to the importance of gender roles. After reading James C Bulman’s article over the Globe’s more recent performance of Twelfth Night and Shakespeare’s original written version, I realized that there are many ways that this famous piece has been portrayed and each has its own pros and cons.…

William Shakespeare’s Hamlet is an intricate literary masterpiece, made up of a conglomeration of different techniques that add dimension, color, and texture to the story. There are countless uses of characterization, dark humor, and many other literary components in Hamlet, all of which are used to give the reader a more emotional and thought provoking reading or listening experience, and insight into the twisted storyline. One of the most interesting of Shakespeare’s techniques is the characterization of each gender as a separate entity. He seems to give the main characters traits that will lead them to follow certain trends for their gender. In Hamlet, Shakespeare characterizes the main male characters as men with power who tend to exercise…

“To be or not to be”(III,i,1). Director Franco Zeffirelli put his spin on the classic shakespeare play, Hamlet in 1990. Working with known actors such as Mel Gibson, Glenn Close, Helena Carter, and Alan Bates, Zeffirelli brings this Denmark tragedy to life. Keeping his version of the screenplay similar to Shakespeare’s original play, the settings, costumes, and language blended nicely into historical times.
