Managing an organization is not an easy task, managers must have many skills, abilities and knowledge to do it in the best way they can.
Therefore, managers need to make use of a tool called “four essential managerial tasks”, which includes four basic steps: Planning, organizing, leading and controlling.
All this essential managerial tasks are very helpful to companies, because they seek the best way to accomplish the goals desired.
It is important to mention that every step has its particular benefits to achieve organizational success and all work together.
First one to follow is planning, it helps to identify and select goals considered appropriates to the organization; also develops strategies to know in what way managers can achieve their objectives.

The Second is organizing, managers structure organizational members to make them work in a team and achieve their purposes in an easy and integrate way.
This step also helps in the purpose aforementioned, because it creates a formal system that gives motivation and coordination to work together both employees and managers and thereby achieve organizational goals.
The next is leading, it is necessary to have a “vision” of the future of the company; managers are the ones to make their employees take enough energy and motivation to accomplish their vision as members of the organization. The most important thing here is managers must be accompanied by “leadership” which involves personality, influence, communication skills and some more.
The importance of leading is that leadership obtained by this step, gives enough encouragement to employees to fight for the goal desired, so managers must not forget this part.

However, one thinks that leading is the most important role in management. As a good leader one will inspire others to do their best in order to accomplish ones objectives. One must motivate employee interest, communicate well, provide adequate training and use power effectively to get them to work hard to attain ones goal. Also, for effective leadership one must first understand employee’s values, emotions, attitudes, and personalities. “Through leading, managers build commitments, encourage activities that support goals, and influence others to do their best work on the organization’s behalf (Lombardi & Schermerhorn, 2007).” Without good leadership, all other functions seem to fall apart.…

However, this does not change the essentiality of this position in any organization, especially in business set-ups. There have been a constant confusion between the role of leaders and managers, and what should be clearly established is that these two roles do not share the same meaning. Being a manager does not guarantee that one is already a good leader. However, leaders can be effective managers. This only means that in order for managers to be effective and avoid negative feedback, they should have sufficient knowledge and skills on leadership. Aside from this, managing and leading a company will also have different impacts on the organization, as well as business outputs (Treacy, 2006). Not all of the renowned managers are great leaders, but these two cannot be separated. As a matter of fact, so many supervisors, administrators, and other high-ranking officials in different organizations have been performing their role without being good leaders themselves. It is just that their positions open better opportunities to be leaders. A manager can truly rise from other managers if he or she manages to be an efficient manager and leader at the same time (Bateman & Snell, 2009).…
