I am Raja, a 31-year old alumnus of IIM (Ahmedabad), with nine years of experience in the corporate sector. I am currently employed as a Product Manager in a software MNC. Mr. Raman, my erstwhile boss from ICG, called me up yesterday. He has been appointed as the head of the consultancy firm which I was working for and made me an offer that if I go back, the firm would take me back in a senior position and with a decent salary hike. He wants me to inform him of my decision within a week. Almost simultaneously, I got a SOS mail from Vivek, my boss, asking me to rush immediately to New Delhi as the implementation partners of an important client are having trouble with the product and were not able to handle it. The other consultants, Ajay and Yash have refused to go. I have my performance appraisal meeting scheduled next week with Vivek. I am being shuttled from one crisis to another, fire fighting all the time. I am feeling DRAINED. This was not how life was supposed to be.
