Our planet contains a variety of landscapes, forests and different climates. Over the years it has gone through many changes in its climate and the species that live on it. Now it seems that our planet is being detrimentally transformed, not by natural events, but by the actions of one species-mankind.
Are we as humans changing planet earth? The facts certainly show that there has been a change in climate and that it is Human induced. It has become noticeably hotter and we have been experiencing bizarre weather and earthquakes and tidal waves are on the increase all over the world.
These dramatic changes are due to an increase in carbon dioxide gases that are being emitted into the earth’s atmosphere. This increase in gases in turn causes an increase in the greenhouse effect and therefore an increase in temperatures.
Every year humans add twenty five billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by driving petrol cars and burying refuse that emits carbon dioxide as it decomposes.
Scientists reported in December 2012 that the latest efforts to emit emissions are failing. Global emissions jumped 2.6% in 2012 and are expected to increase in 2013.
Man has control over the world and everything in it. We all need to become more responsible as the atmosphere is polluted by day-to-day activities that we take for granted. We need to contribute to saving our planet by turning off televisions when not in use, turning down heaters by a few degrees or using blankets, decomposing of our waste properly, recycling and car pooling or using public transport where possible.
All these factors contribute to an increase in carbon dioxide and therefore an increase in global warming. Increased temperatures can cause death, disease and destruction. I urge every human to contribute where they can to help conserve our planet for future
