Marijuana Abuse Case Study

Patient reports daily as recommended to receive health sustaining medication services. Patient’s last urine screen results indicate that marijuana have been used. Counselor will meet with Pt. to discuss his ongoing pattern of marijuana abuse and how it not only inhibits tx progression, flexibility of take homes but has negatively affected the usefulness of his prescribed medication and . Pt has been inconsistent in his group attendance. During the upcoming quarter, Counselor will prompt Pt. to weigh the pros and cons of continue using marijuana.

Overall, Pt. has maintained his financial responsibilities as evidenced by paying all his treatment services fees on time over the last quarter. During last quarter, Pt. maintained his full-time employment status and self-reported that he has no issues or concerns with his current financial status. Counselor will encourage Pt. to report any positive or negative changes in his financial status to this writer or AMS Director as soon as possible.
During the last session, Pt.
continues to minimize his marijuana abuse and consequent erratic behavior and was given information on relapse prevention strategies during relapse prevention group. Pt. made minimal progress on avoiding negative people and avoid using any illicit substance in an effort to maintain sobriety. Patient needs to realize that the people with whom he was getting high were not true friends and begin to forge positive relationships with drug-free and recovering people. During this quarter, Counselor will prompt pt. to participate in AA, NA, CA, church or other community organizations meeting as a way of filling the void left by the loss of drug-using friends.

During the last quarter, Pt. learned, through the AMS educational group, to give and receive feedback about wellness skills implementation for pain management. Although the Pt. was monitored for medication side effects in the program, he reported no concerns in this
area.
