In the movie The Social Network, the main character, Mark Zuckerberg, has a particular case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Mark Zuckerberg was the creator of Facebook. However, he was not the one who came up with this spectacular idea. He actually stole the idea from twins named Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. He did this because he did not want to come in second to them. Mark wanted to be number one all the time, no matter what he had to do. When Mark created FaceMash in one night, the Winklevoss twins were thoroughly impressed with how talented he was. They reached out to him with the general idea of Facebook. Mark loved the idea so much that not only did he agree to be a part of the process, he wanted to make it his own. He went home that night and pitched the idea to his friend Eduard, who was completely unaware of the meeting with the Winklevoss twins. Immediately, they began to make the site themselves. Mark would constantly push off the twins whenever they would try and meet to work on the website because he was so invested in creating it himself. In a month’s timespan, Mark had created the entire website with the help and investments from his friend and CFO of Facebook, Eduardo. Before I watched the movie I read the section in my book about personality disorders. I also read the DSM-5 criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I felt that there were many explicit examples used throughout the movie displaying the different characteristics of the personality disorder. Based on the information of the DSM-5 and information we discussed in class, I was able to precisely pinpoint the exact psychological disorder that Mark Zuckerberg possessed. I specifically feel this way because there were many different scenes in the movie and specific quotations particularly used which referenced the criteria meeting the disorder. With Sean’s Substance-Use disorder, I do personally feel that there could have been a better representation of his disorder. There was enough evidence that supported the criteria that he possessed the Substance-Use Disorder; however, I feel that he should have displayed more of the criteria for the disorder. For instance, I feel like he could have demonstrated that he had to persistent problems cutting back or controlling use of the substance. Other than the wishing he possessed that last criteria from the Substance-Use Disorder, for my part, would say that it was accurately displayed in the
