In both the novel and the film, Margo was consistently portrayed as a multifaceted mystifying individual. In both of the mediums, she is surrounded by “stories of epic adventures” (14)…
Margret and H.A. Rey are well known authors of the popular children’s series starring Curious George. What is not so well known about them is why these books and others they have written contain the themes that they do. Margret and H.A. Rey had a very rich and tumultuous life before publishing their first children’s book. Their Jewish heritage during an age of war against Jews and the subsequent escape by bike to safety inspired a lot of George’s narrow escapes from trouble after being too curious. They are husband and wife and also a fully self-dependent author illustrator team. The illustrations across all of their books reflect a particular style, not only in Curious George, as well as multiple common themes. Of their large collection, the most notable stories are that of Cecily G. and the 9 Monkeys, the original seven Curious George stories, and The Stars.…

Marlena is a modern 1930’s women. She is described to have short, blonde, curly hair, and is very petite. She is very beautiful, but at the same time is also smart and gutsy. Unlike many other typical girl main characters, Marlena is very bold. She isn’t the damsel in distress, and doesn’t show many weaknesses of herself. She is her own person, and she isn’t afraid to show it throughout the novel. For example: There is a part of the book between August, Marlena, and Jacob where the three are drinking wine, and celebrating the success of the circus. As the celebration (and drinking) continues, August becomes suspicious of Marlena and Jacob’s relationship, and hits Marlena. She soon leaves August, and does not take him back, despite his begging and pleading. She isn’t afraid to stand up for…
John Green has this given ability to squeeze every detail about a character into this novel. This allows the reader to be able to create a deep connection with a character based on the descriptive background, appearance and traits that the author clearly depicts. Imaging a character how an author describes really allows one to open their mind to the world of the character and their lives. However, John Green uses situational irony again to assist in the character’s development by giving the reader an explanation of the character, but later on the reader discovers a completely hidden side to the character. This is especially evident in Margo Spigelman because one may believe she is beautiful, happy, and poor when in reality she experiences an unhappy and rich lifestyle. This is shown when Margo leaves town and leaves behind those mysterious clues for those who truly understand her…

She has a side that no one is aware of until Quentin and his friends secretly go into Margo’s room to search for clues. She has a whole record set collection and no one knew of her interest in music and she carries a black notebook everywhere but once again, no one knows what it is. Another odd side of Margo is her habit of running away leaving vague clues. In her previous run away, she left the letters, M, I, S, and P hinting that she left for Mississippi, and the time that she spent the night in Disney World, she left a Minnie Mouse doll on her bed. Later on she explains how she is a paper girl being all fake and needing to travel around instead of being stuck in one…

In George H. Jenson and John K. DiTiberio 's article titled, “Personality and Individual Writing Process” they compare someones personality to that of their writing process. Through this examination, Jenson and DiTiberio, come to realize that while teaching the writing process, teachers, professors or whom ever is instructing this process should take into consideration the individuals personality types. Determining the students personality can help prevent things like writers block when it comes to writing a paper or article. Once the individuals personality type is determined then steps can be made to individualize writing instruction.…
Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest basketball players ever, once said, “These young guys are playing checkers. I’m out there playing chess.” Like many of Kobe’s adversaries, I too felt like I was playing checkers. In school, much like in basketball, there are people who have mastered the game. These are the students that do not panic when given a writing assignment or research paper. However, I am not one of these students. When given the assignment to write a research paper, my body fills with fear and anxiety. This is what happened when I was given my first research paper at Hofstra, but something was different. When the professor finished explaining the dreaded assignment, a man introduced himself. Unannounced to me, this man would change the fearful way I viewed research papers.…
