Philanthropy is “a voluntary action for the public good” (Payton & Moody, 2008). When a person realizes actions to help people to solve public problems in his country or in any place and the person do this voluntarily. “According to Helmut Anheier and Regina List, philanthropist refers to the use of personal wealth, skills, and time for the benefit of pubic causes”(Anheier and List 2005: 1969).A person act in a Philanthropic way when she take her money to invest in the good of a Society. “Philanthropy is the giving of individual time or private money without compulsion for the benefit of those outside of the family intended to make improvements in Society”(Witkowski & Bauerkamper,2016). Mary Pérez Marranzini is a living example of a philanthropist in the Dominican Republic because with her action she has benefited many people with physical disabilities for more of 50 year. She is the president of the Dominican Association of Rehabilitation, which is an organization that help people with physical and mental disabilities in this country. …show more content…
Mary has raised awareness in authorities and health policy makers and spared no effort to find ways to ensure the success of her actions in favor of Dominican society (Rumbo Magazine, 1998).
I think that Mary Pérez is one of the women more important in the Dominican Society because she has worried for the wellness of many people in Dominican Republic and her action will be unforgettable because she has marked a before and a later in the life of the disabled of Dominican Republic.
