Martin Luther King The Purpose Of Education
In the article “The purpose of education” by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. states that “most college men have a misconception of the purpose of education.” Martin Luther King Jr. believes that the purpose of education is “to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. I fully agree with what he is stating because most students don’t understand the purpose of education. Instead they view it as another way to help them trample over others. I disagree on how people acknowledge education now because once they believe they know everything they see everyone else as inferior to them. Education shouldn’t be used against anyone in a negative way, it should be instead used for positive productive ways. Martin Luther King Jr. also states that

I would consider them as bullies that like to make themselves feel better by assigning themselves in a higher position in their own mindset. Martin Luther King Jr also states that intelligence is not enough. “Intelligence plus character is the goal of true education.” When you have an education, but you are considered a bad person then it doesn’t matter anymore what you do because people won’t look up to you instead, they will look away because they want to focus on positivity and follow the right steps instead of being selfish. When you have a lot of knowledge and you're a good person people can rely on you and look up to you as a mature adult trying to help people reach goals. “The complete education gives one not only power of concentration, but worthy objectives upon which to concentrate.” Once society is locked-on and focused onto a goal or something they eagerly would like to accomplish, they constantly push themselves daily and strive themselves to never give up on reaching their goals. Martin Luther King Jr warns future societies to remain open-minded and aware of what’s going on in colleges so that on-coming generations can hopefully make a significant change that may permanently change the whole perspective of education into a positive and efficient
