Once in middle school, I had a Vietnamese friend named Cindy who stood at the bus stop with me and all of my other friends. Her eyes got so wide – as if I had told her that she had left the oven on while we were out. I quickly pretended that I wasn't sure and acted like I was thinking about it, and she showed signs of relief – even said that if the family were Vietnamese we would be fast to move. My only guess is that this is an after affect of the war on Vietnam, and because of how – if I remember correctly, there were still American troops stationed there. To be honest, that's the only tension I know between America and Vietnam. To her these people may have been potential terrorists or another threat of some sort. I can't fully blame her for that if the war was the reason because it was very brutal, but I can't agree with labeling an entire race of people like that.
