At the begging of the story, Marry lived a simple housewife life that was all around her husband Patrick, she would do some sewing clean the house plus be keeping her good looks on point. So in resolution for that, she went to the grocery store to get some vegetables for the dinner that she made. When she got back to the house, Mary Maloney called the police, which only presented her with a new conflict, fooling the police.
