She began by explaining that Julie Schenecker sent an email to her mother that made her mother feel uneasy and want to call the police. The Assistant public defender explained that the police would be testifying to the events that happened January 2011. When the police arrived they knocked on the door and no one answered so they looked in through the window to see Schenecker laying outside on the back patio. She notes that the police explain the defendant looked as though she had been sleeping for a very long time and that it was a very cool January morning. To cool for her to be sleeping outside in her robe. That investigation quickly turned from a welfare check into a homicide investigation. Ms. Spradley attempted to paint a picture of the events that happened that day to be one of a loving mother who was mentally unstable. She explained that when the police found Schenecker and woke her to question her that Schenecker was unstable and had to be held up while sitting on the couch. She explained that when the police asked her where her children were Schenecker told them that she tucked her daughter in bed and that she tried to pick her son up and put him in her bed, because thats where he slept the soundest when his father was away, but she could not move him so she left him in the vehicle and tucked a blanket around him. Julie Schenecker was right when she said that she “did the worst thing that she had ever done”. I have no doubt that Schenecker has a severe mental illness however, I feel that she was aware of what she was doing and that it was wrong. I have only witnessed the opening statements but from what I have personally witnessed I feel that she had been planning on committing the act of killing her children in addition to committing suicide. She knew that what she was doing was wrong and that it would hurt a great number of people but she was so tired of feeling the sadness that she had felt for so long that she decided to end her life. She was angry with her husband for wanting to divorce her and angry with her children for being disrespectful. I asses that Julie Schenecker wanted to end her pain in addition to seeking revenge on both her husband and children by ending her children 's lives as well as her

There was evidence that wasn’t collected such as blood that Mrs Chamberlain offered to give to the police. Evidence such as their tents and belongings were moved to a motel on the first night, which could’ve caused contamination allowing the evidence to have alterations. Their tents and belongings were also not searched. In addition, the family was then allowed to leave in their car the following morning without it being explored allowing contamination with another piece of evidence. Furthermore, evidence that was discovered later on in the case such as Azaria’s jumpsuit was moved then picked up and was not placed as it was found which tampered with the evidence. Although the collection of evidence throughout this case demonstrated faults, the Jury still concluded to Mrs Chamberlain as a guilty woman, which led to her…

Upon arriving he described her as distraught and extremely upset. Her original story said that she left her baby with a sitter when she left and returned to her deceased baby; however, when asked what happened in detail she changed her story. This second response said, “I remember making airline reservations for my trip. Then I tried to find a baby sitter, but I couldn’t. I knew that I was leaving Alison alone and that I wouldn’t be coming back for a while, but I had to get to California at all costs. I visited my mother and then left.” The information provided by Policeman A provided valuable information and was certainly credible. The defendant was negligent of the child and clearly stated that she knew she was leaving behind her daughter even though she could not find a sitter, which also showed she knew from right and…

From the case’s inception, the way that the police handled the situation was questionable, from the crime scene to the interrogation. In the now-famous case, Dassey confessed to having taken part in the murder of Teresa Halbach in which his uncle, Steven Avery was also involved (Nirider et al., 2012). Dassey was a party of interest because he had attended a bonfire at the Avery residence the night Teresa went missing. From the beginning, Dassey had never recalled anything suspicious happening until his police interrogation (Nirider et al., 2012). Dassey’s interrogations which were conducted in February of 2006 were able to demonstrate how police officers continuously suggested that Dassey had assisted Avery in the murder. These interrogations were able to exhibit Dassey’s personality and behaviors. It was evident that he was a shy and reserved person. Nirider et al. (2012), explain that Dassey was in special education classes and had previously never had trouble with the law. Dassey was interviewed and interrogated by police without a parent or an attorney present in three different instances in 2006. Police officers urged Dassey to tell them the story of what had really happened. Eventually, Dassey, who was under pressure, went on to say that he had taken part in sexually assaulting and then murdering Teresa Halbach (Nirider et al., 2012). Dassey went on to say that he had seen Halbach’s body in the bonfire. Interestingly, there was never any physical evidence indicating that Halbach was sexually assaulted. In fact, Halbach’s remains only indicated that she was shot in the head not sexually assaulted. Dassey had never stated that she had been shot, but police kept asking him what else Avery had done to her. At one point the officers explicitly asked what happened with her head to which Dassey replies that he cannot remember and the police reply “Who shot…

I thought the testimony of both Doctors about Mary’s mental state was a very important factor in determining Mary’s mental state at the time of the crime. Doctor Parker and Doctor Bloom are both professional psychiatrists; Dr. Parker has been involved with many judicial hearings rather than Dr. Bloom who has not attended any judicial hearing. Both doctors agreed that Mary is suffering from depression and anxiety and she is in need of mediation. But Dr. Parker says "She was aware that she was leaving her child unattended and that the child would be in great danger." Dr. Bloom believes that she did not know what she was doing at the time due to postpartum depression. The major difference in opinion is Dr. Parker believes Mary only suffers from depression due to the guilt of the crime and Dr. Bloom believes Mary suffered before the crime and contributed to it. Dr. Bloom had four months of time to work and interview Mary. On the other hand Dr. Parker only interview Mary four times to diagnosis her mental state. However I felt with Dr. Parker’s previous experience working with the judicial system he was able to quickly determine her mental state and was not asked to diagnosis or treatment just ascertain her mental state at the time of the crime.…

The prosecution’s argument is that the defendant is not only guilty of the charges brought against him in the matter of State v. Stu Dents but is liable as well because he knowingly and purposefully committed the crimes on the victim, Uma Opee. All three elements, mens rea, actus reus, and concurrence were present at the time. Mr. Dents was very detailed and meticulous in the manner in which he went about, as he penned in fulfilling his destiny in the journal found by officers in his home. This is considered premeditated. Probable cause has been established in connecting the defendant tothe crime through DNA testing. Officers found mor than 300 photographs stapled to a wall in a locked room located in the back of the defendant’s home. Three counts of possession will be sought for the MDMA also known as ecstasy, cocaine, and methamphetamine drugs found in the defendant’s home. Kidnapping as the victim was taken by force from her place of residence. Signs of cuts and bruises on the victim’s shows Uma put up a struggle. The victim’s hands and feet were tied with rope; particles of which were found in the victim’s home along with blood spots. The victim’s jewelry, specifically an inscribed ring, was found among the defendant’s possession. Lastly, the defendant intentionally assaulted a law enforcement officer when he punched Officer T. Chur in…
