Novels come from a single source that has either heavily been researched or was created from an original thought. Literature is concrete expressions of thought that allow humans to critically think about issues and ideas. In contrast to mass media, literature is more concerned with the genuine and inaccurate not the irrelevant distractions found in mass culture. In Brave New World Huxley references great works of literature such as William Shakespeare to depict how John the Savage is a complicated character with original thoughts inspired by the great works of Shakespeare. John’s experience reading novels has given him the courage to stand up to the meaningless community of the world state in hopes of bringing passion to society.
