Q27. What is something you’ve learned from your reading?

I’m reading a book called Master Builder 2.0. It’s about Minecraft. Minecraft is a sandbox game, meaning that there is no rules for how you play. 12 million Minecraft copies were downloaded in three years. There are two types of biomes in Minecraft, area and feature biomes. Area biomes are the main and bigger biomes like, plains, forest, desert, swamp, extreme hills, mushroom island, jungle, ocean, and the nether. Feature biomes are smaller and can usually be found in area biomes like, river, ravine, hills, beach, cave, snowy, and deep ocean. If you what to go monster hunting you should eat first. The best foods to eat before combat are golden apples, cooked

This genre can be described as an extended metaphor, where different objects in the book are symbolic representations of different ideas that are mainly focused on criticism of society. This novel can be also described as an adventure; the boys in the island have an adventure by exploring different parts of the island. However, this adventure that the boys experience has a deeper or subtle meaning, which ties into the fact that this novel is also an…

The MSM was created by Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968) who suggested that memory was comprised of three separate stores. They were; sensory memory, short term memory and long term memory. The model shows how information is transferred between the three stores. The model simply shows that when your are given information of environmental stimuli it will enter your sensory memory and only if you pay attention will it enter your short term memory, which has a capacity of 7+/- 2 bits of information. The information can last up to 18 seconds, without rehearsal. STM is encoded mainly acoustically, however sometimes it is done visually. If maintenance rehearsal takes place it will remain in STM or be forgotten due to displacement or decay. Elaborative rehearsal will transfer information into LTM which has unlimited capacity and can last a lifetime. LTM is encoded mainly semantically. The retrieval of information from LTM to STM can happen when needed. This model is a linear model because the information just passes through the model one way.…

The working memory model (WMM) has four components. The central executive controls and monitors the operation of the other 3 components. It also allocates attention. The phonological loop is sub-divided into 2 smaller components, the articulatory control system, where information is rehearsed sub vocally or in the inner voice and the phonological store where speech is held for a very brief duration in the inner ear. The third component is the visuo spatial sketchpad which deals with visual information obtained by the sensory organs (eyes) or recalled from the LTM. The fourth component is the episodic buffer which acts as a store for visual and acoustic data and the retrieval of long term memory. It has an unlimited duration and capacity.…

Author Gary Krist attitude and/or tone towards Mayor Thompson is portrayed quite frequently throughout the book City Of Scoundrels. Showing his response to how the Mayor handles each situation in each disaster or political event going on. Lone his vast support base from the African Americans and his support he gives them, he stays distant when decisions have to be made. Though uses his respect for the African American community to find his way to ‘victor’. Thompson uses his ‘somewhat’ wise tactics to keep his public figure on the good side. Amy Tan uses thoughtful laughter in her novel, The Joy Luck Club, to make a point through laughter or humor. Thoughtful laughter is effective because it grabs the attention of the reader and expresses a point, whether the reader knows it or not. One scene that provokes thoughtful laughter is in the chapter “Best Quality” while the family picks crabs to eat. When there was only two crabs left, Jing-Mei Woo tries to choose the crab with the missing leg, so her mom would have the better crab. On page 227 during the meal, Jing-Mei Woo says “That's the way Chinese mothers show they love their children, not through hugs and kisses but the stern offering of steamed dumplings, duck gizzards, and crab.” The Chinese mothers in The Joy Luck Club show affection to their daughters differently through non-obvious manners, such as showing off their daughters or giving…

‘An Inspector Calls’ is a play set in 1912 by Mr. J. B. Priestly just before world war 1. Britain was drastically different from the post World War 2 Britain as the nation was very capitalist and there was a bigger separation in the social classes. Aristocrats, such as Mr. Birling would never mix with people of lower social standing. This was also before the win of Labour in 1945 and the creation of the welfare-state(NHS); which is the time of when the play was first shown. In this essay I will be focusing on the characters of Eric and Mr. Birling and seeing the decisions they make and how this is affected by the generation divide. Eric being the younger generation and Birling being the old.…
