PROBLEM STATEMENT:
The current food system that exists for all people in the world needs to be more equitable. More focus needs to be placed on initiatives that are created in order to help create food justice, and specific focus on goals and execution of goals put in place to attempt in creating food justice. I will look to school food programs to illustrate program implementation that attempt to create food justice. PROBLEM: SOCIAL EQUITY AND FOOD JUSTICE ARE LARGE PROBLEMS

Alkon (2009) et al. described food justice as “access to healthy food, affordable, culturally appropriate food” (p. 289).
“To have healthy, culturally appropriate food, which is also justly and sustainably grown” (Sbicca, 2012, p. 456).
Define food justice in terms of equity: “achieving justice is not only a matter of redistributing goods, it is a matter of correcting disparities in social, political, and economic standings to allow those who have been historically underprivileged to advocate for their concerns” (Loo, 2014, p. 789&795).

Definition of a social problem:
