Max Ve Weber'in Adalet Kavramı
Max Weber’in

Weber’in İslâm Hakkındaki Görüşleri

Akyol, throughout the book, often recognizes similarities and differences between Islam and Christianity; as well as, he notes the different environmental factors between the Middle East and the West and how they play a role in the political development of each religion. For example, Akyol explains the medieval christians’ fascination in Islamic liberalism and freedom, which Christianity, at the time, was considered a much more conservative ideology (78-79). Akyol uses these contrasting ideas to show the nature of religion and how it affects the development of a state in an academic and economic sense. As well as, he describes these differences in order to clear the misconceptions held by the West that Islam is a widely conservative ideology when in reality, it’s post-Qur’anic traditions that impose the conservative ideas seen in modern day Islamic states, in addition to giving a historical context that not necessarily long ago Christianity was considered the ultra-conservative doctrine.…

Weber became a Law Lecturer at the University of Berlin in 1891 and in his early writings he did a work on Roman Agrarian History. It is observed through his work that he was a man who was affected by his spiritual and mental health at the time of writing his work. This can be clearly seen in 1897, which was a fatal point in his life, as he suffered by a nervous breakdown, following his father’s death. It took him about 5 years to recover from it. When he recovered he started writing with much eagerness and on 1904-1905 he issued his most popular piece of work that was named “The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism” (PSCE). They were two articles that caused great controversy and they demonstrate the relationship between Protestantism and economic ethics of the modern capitalist environment during the 17th century.…

Judith Guest's novel, Ordinary People, is quite a unique story in that it has two protagonists. It alternates between the Conrad's story and Calvin's, his father. Although they seem interrelated, especially at the beginning, they are more like two completely different stories which happen to occasionally affect one another before splitting off and going their own ways once more. Conrad's main concern seems to be his emotional time bomb, always threatening to blow but never knowing when it's going to happen and drag him back into his depressed and suicidal state. Calvin's story seems at first to be all about trying to control Conrad's emotional problems, but it gradually becomes a fight to simply keep the family together. As the story progresses, he gets into more arguments with his wife, Beth, about how to deal with the past and Conrad's emotional state. Calvin believes the family should talk through their problems whereas Beth believes that the family should simply move on and forget the past, which leads to…

The relationships between Islam, Judaism and Christianity in the later parts of the 20th century appear to have improved as well as worsened from different perspectives as compared to any other period in history. A noteworthy aspect of the current relationships is that Muslims are now engaged in dialogues with Christians and Jews. Islam is now the fastest growing religion in the world and Muslim leaders and clerics can be observed functioning together with ministers, priests and rabbis in several religious endeavors. However, the three religions continue to have major differences and are engaged in nationalist and territorial conflicts that have gradually been characterized with religious or sectarian differences. This paper makes an analysis of the beliefs and practices that Islam shares with Christianity and Judaism because the misunderstandings between the three religions can be resolved only in recognizing that they have the same roots and share several social and religious practices.…

Present-day literary contents have become sites where the conflict for power and meaning prevail. The conflict between Islam and secularism in present-day Turkey forms the background for Pamuk’s writings. As a writer who addresses the overall audience Pamuk has entrenched himself as a considerable voice of authority representing this struggle. Pamuk brightly documents the hesitation of present-day Turkey as it is hovered between the old Ottoman Islamic cultural tradition and a twentieth century state driven Westernization. The Islam-secularism conflict is not an exclusive Turkish condition alone but has larger significance involving global, geopolitical consequence. Among these political concerns the author also brings in the question of art and explores it to the fullest by using personal symbols and…
