May Your Trails Be Crooked Analysis
“May your trails be crooked…” This quote is long, but includes many factors that make it so inspiring. The first sentence is my favorite part of the quote because it makes one of the best points. With a great use of vocabulary, it explains how the hardest trails lead to the best views. The main reason that this part speaks to me is because one of my favorite hobbies is hiking. In my experience, the hardest hikes always lead to the most divine views. That doesn’t only apply to hiking, however. Working hard in school and other activities always ends well. I like it because it shows how the beginning may be the hardest segment, but it will always lead to an excellent reward. The second sentence explains how the mountains should tower into

The quote I have chosen is, “Success consists of going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm”. This is one of Winston Churchill's most well known quotes. This quote was said during his reign as the Prime Minister of Great Britain. It is unknown as to where this quote came from but I found it to be very captivating. I feel like Churchill is trying to get the point across that in life it is normal to not be perfect. Everyone makes mistakes and each failure shapes you as a person. Churchill is saying that if you put your mistakes in the past without changing who you are, it makes you stronger and more successful than someone who fails to do so. Being afraid of failure gets you nowhere in life so Churchill is stating that everyone should strive with great enthusiasm in order to be their best self.…

I completely agree with this because life is definitely not always going to be how you want it to be. For instance, when you are going through life and it consists of turns and loops but it will always lead back into a positive point through time. When you’re on this so-called “rollercoaster” it is yourself that decides how thrilling or frightening your life is going to be. An example would be Michael Jordan in high school. During Michael Jordan’s sophomore year in high school he got kicked out the basketball team. This would unfortunately be a “down” for him on his “life rollercoaster”. But little did that coach know he became the best basketball player and athlete on the planet. So while Michael was going “up” on his rollercoaster, I know for sure that the coach definitely regretted his decision from cutting him from the team. This type of motivation should inspire the world to do great things and be the best that they can even though someone is telling you that you can’t do it. In other words never give up on what you love doing. Overall everybody has there ups and downs throughout life and when you are in the down part of life just know that there will be loop that will put you back up top of the…

In Janelle Monáe’s “Hell You Talmbout” she talks about people living in poverty. She first starts with the first verse saying that in poverty there is a lot of violence, from bombs being thrown, guns being pulled out, and a body lying on the streets from police brutality. In the chorus she repeats “Now what the hell you talking ‘bout?” this could be seen as Janelle speaking to an outsider who does not see all the violence and poverty, while those who live in those conditions experience it every day. In the second verse, Janelle addresses the topic of how fast drugs are traveling in poverty and how they are stealing from one another to get money for drugs. In the line “the poor man eats off of the rich men’s dollar,” Janelle refers to how many…

In “Go Tell it on the Mountain”, the Grimes family seems to be struggling with their religion. With the characters having hatred within the religion, living within fear (of God and Gabriel), and family members only caring when something major happens, the family’s religious belief does not seem to sit well with the Grimes. Every day, there always seems to be some sort of war going on, whether it's physical or spiritual, it always seems to be about the rejection of something. The major theme of “Go Tell it on the Mountain” is problems with religion because, the characters are arguing about their fathers puritanical policies, they they lie and keep it to themselves, and some family members are stubborn and won't be moved by someone being saved.…

Frederick Douglas one said, “If there is no struggle there is no progress”. Douglas is expressing how people have to go through a lot of hard work. People have to get through obstacles to move forward with their life starting with school, tragedies, jobs and other things to achieve their goals. Certain people don’t get through things as easy as others so it’s a harder struggle but if you keep moving forward and doing what is best to stay on track you will get progress and be where you need to be in order to do what you want to do in your life.…

Cicero once stated that “… The greater the difficulty the grater the glory …” My interpretation of this would be in order to fulfill ones goals or desires you most struggle to get there, the more you struggle the more satisfaction you’ll feel in the end. I agree with this statement because in this world and generation we are living in things don’t come easy. One most work hard for what they want. In order to get from point A to point B you must move towards it or you’ll never reach where you’re trying to get threw out the many challenges. Two stories that emulate this quote would be Sweat by Zara Neale Hurston & The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst. Both authors uses Characterization and Conflict.…

I agree with Le Guin that the adventure itself is more significant than your end goal. When journeying to accomplish your goals, you learn invaluable life lessons and make memories. Those are the things that will carry you through your journey and remain with you for the rest of your life. A real life application of this quote is high school. The end goal is to graduate with a diploma, vital for the rest of your life;…

Life is the ultimate test of endurance, from fighting discrimination, to overcoming disability, to surviving tremendous odds, and to proving the world wrong, it is a struggle from the first step, to the our final departure. If there's one thing I've learned throughout the literature that I've read, it's that life is never a solid, paved road, but rather a bustling, and unpredictable freeway filled with crater sized potholes. Nevertheless, it's a road worth taking that's full of rewards and adventure no matter which lane you turn.…
