moon and suns to be able to count the days in a year (source 1). Also, the time that the Egyptian changed the number of days in a year was all because of a sun. A sun that today we call "Sirus, rose next to the sun every 365 days" (source 1). This action caused the changed of the Egyptian calendar to 365 days in the year of 3100 B.C ( source 1). This was a record the researchers found about a year having 365 days.
The Mayan calendar, most popular in the Hispanic culture believed in the different countries in South America and Mexico.
The Mayan calendar gained popular due to the fact that of Hollywood movies and myth (source 3). There was a rumor that spread around the that the world was going to end on December 12, 2012, because it was the end of the Mayan calendar (source 3). This gained so much popularity that people actually believed the myth and was frightened. The Mayan calendar is very important because it was the oldest calendar ever to be discovered. This calendar goes back hundreds of years, many want to know what was life like hundreds of years ago and some of the cultures that were started with the Mayan are still being practiced today. The discovery of the calendar was found about 8 years ago where a group of students was visiting a Mayan temple ( source 3). This leads to a huge excavation through the Mayan temple and discovering ancient drawing that gave us more information about the tribe. The murals found the hidden where the student ran off to was estimated to be around 800 A.D which means this was thousands of years ago and we still continue to make new discoveries about them and we need
answers.
The Mayan calendar goes back thousands of years that could easily be told by pictures and what life was like. Also it predicted the future; this is why when people said the world was going to end many of them believed it and were very scared. While this myth was just a way to get people thinking Hollywood went to go on and do a movie about. The Mayan calendar predicted many events that actually took place, for example, it predicted that there would be no doomsday ( another word for the end of the world) and the human species would be around for another 7,000 years. Many of the public stop believing in the Mayan calendar after the 2012 incident which could be reasonable. The Mayans created their calendar based on the suns and moons when they created their calendar many people were amazed at how they create it. The Mayans had the most advanced technology during their time many of the Mayans were philosophers and mathematicians which is mind-blowing because they were able to teach themselves a system to where in some countries use the same system as used in during the Mayan era.
Another calendar that was used was the Georgian calendar." The Georgian calendar was introduced in 46 B.C" (source 2). This calendar was molded after the Julian calendar which also was corrected the Georgian calendar. The Georgian calendar is really spoken about but many still believe that the Georgian calendar was a change than other calendars. This calendar was a lot longer than the solar calendar that many other calendars followed. Georgian calendar affected many of the Catholic Church due to the fact of religious celebrations. Many people were furious and confused because they would not know when to celebrate their event. So a man named Pope Gregory was elected to and wanted to reform the calendar due to the religious celebrations days ( source 2). Many people started to work on a calendar that would achieve the goal of Pope Gregory and fix the calendar that would be enough time for the religious celebration but also stay on track with the time and solar time periods. A German man named Jesuit Christopher Clavius made the accurate lunar almanac for the calendar ( source 2). The new calendar was finally being used and on October 4, 1582, the next would be October 15, 1582 ( source 2). This means that the year would lose ten days and just for that one year and also be in line with the solar year. After dropping the ten days, this would mean that it would need a leap year every four years ( source 2). This was the start of the leap year. A leap year is when the year is being added an extra day in order to be aligned with the solar time zone.
Many Calendars have been used throughout time in order to aline certain events. The Mayans used the sun and moon but also predicted events, The Egyptians used their belief with the sun, moon and their creator that show sign using the sun and that would determine their calendar and lastly, the Georgian calendar that was molded around the Catholic Church but also the lunar almanac. Many calendars have changed to make time periods more understandable. So when would the next change of our modern calendar? How would affect our lives? These questions are what holds in the future and time also awaits to give answers.
