Mayan Education System Essay

Every society has a unique communication system with, a language, writing system, class system, calendar, and education system. Every society has different ways of doing each thing. For the mayans, they had a education system that was a bit unfair, a class system, a complex writing system, and two intricate calendars. In our society, education is very important and it is extremely hard to be successful without one. Although, clearly in mayan society it is less important considering how not many of the people have it. Only children of a high class were allowed to get a real education. They were taught by special priests that would teach many subjects including, math, science, astronomy, medicine, and writing. Speaking of the high class, the higher class consisted of kings, priests, and nobles. In addition, the lower class included, farmers and slaves. There was also a middle class with, professionals, bureaucrats, artisans, and merchants. The lower and middle classes were taught from their family members. They were given around 4-5 little jobs to do which would prepare them for the future. Logosyllabic means that they wrote using logograms which are words or phrases represented by characters or pictures.
