In Lord of The Flies, during the first few chapters the boys tend to find ways to survive by making rules, and showing respect to the leader of the group, Ralph. As soon as they get the idea of owning the island they lose hope of rescue and this makes them lose control of themselves. The boy with the mulberry birthmark was lost until he found other people on the island whom were the boys. However, the boys end up finding out a way to make a fire with
Piggy's glasses. They start to collect a bunch of branches and putting them in a pile. Then start the fire with the glasses, all of the boys go down the mountain but the boy with the mulberry birthmark. Remembering the boy because of his birthmark they notice he is not with them. When in the forest one of the littluns say there is a beast, the boys assume they've probably crossed paths with the boy with the mulberry birthmark. The older boys weren't too concerned but the littluns were terrified.
In the book The Maze Runner, all of the boys are trapped in a place almost impossible to escape from, desperate to find a way out they make rules and organize themselves. There is a boy in The Maze Runner whom is like Piggy, chubby, smart and is mature. The boys choose to separate themselves one of the group of boys will stay safe and the others are the runners who go into the maze and find their way out. Although they are frustrated in finding a way out they do not give up.
