Mean To Me
What does death mean to you?
Death is the end of our time on earth. I feel that our souls go up to heaven and that we can still influence those on earth. They can still pray to us and we can help them.

What is your biggest fear?
My biggest fear would be de-ration of health. So meaning that that my health getting really bad. It’s not so much dying, but living in lots of pain and being limited in what I can do.

How do you deal with your fear?
Because I have health issues I deal with it every day. I’m doing better than I was, so that makes the fear less scary. So I do everything in my power and control to do everything I can do even if they are difficult.

I guess you look at the wants and the needs that you need to be reminded that you need to help the less fortunate. We all need to be reminded once in awhile.
What type of treads do you agree with in society?

Technology I agree with parts of it, but I don’t feel you should be waiting in line and spending hundreds of dollars on the lastest phone. if it works then why do you need a new one? But I like how it can help me teach and learn some different things I may not have learned in the past.

What type of treads do you not agree with?

Fashion it’s not always appropriate. I’m setting my own fashion treads with my garments. I don’t feel most of the fashion treads should be at school. Even the little girl clothes that I buy for Brooke I have an issue buying because i have a hard time buying appropriate clothes. I feel that if you feel good you feel good. I don’t feel that all treads should be treadie.

Do you think that society uses technology to much?

Yes, I think this because when I go out to eat I see lots of families with their phones out. I also feel that they use social medias to much like when they say I have 250 friends, no you don’t you can’t even name them all. I feel life is becoming to viral and people don’t hang out face to face

Children these days rely more on technological advances to interact with each other. Adults are also following these trends just at a slower rate. Any commercial ad you see whether it is on T.V. or a poster ad you see on a building it will have some sort of social media/networking ad along with it. Almost every T.V. show has a Facebook page that anyone can go to and follow. Commercials use Facebook and Twitter to try and reel people into a form of income. If they don’t sell their product they will hopefully make an income off of the social networking advertising. Most fast food restaurants even promote ordering food over a form of social networking. This is allowing people to have less and less physical interaction.…

When I die I think that I am going straight to heaven. I say this because of the death of Jesus. When he did Jesus went to hell and freed the ones that had died before and had trusted in him. Thus proving the point that we no longer had to stay in hell until the perfect sacrifice was made. Also when I die I believe that my earthly body will decompose but my spirit shall ask just as the spirits of those who died and believed with the only difference being that it will happen as soon as I die.…

(Subclaim 1) Though cell phones can actually cause isolation, cell phones simplify our lives and social media allows people to connect with each other and express themselves on a new platform.(Evidence 1) Our phones simplifies the mundane parts of our lives. As early as just 25 years ago, if you wanted to find directions you’re lost, you had to spend about twenty minutes looking for directions on a map. You wanted to find a piece of information? You had to sort through hundreds of pages on a big, bulky encyclopedia. Or even if you wanted to call your friend to hang out later, you had to go out and find a payphone. Our phones have allowed us to do all these things in an instant at the touch of a button. A researcher at Harvard University says…

Phillis Wheatley: “To soothe the troubles of the mind to peace, to still the tumult of life’s tossing seas, to ease the anguish of the parent heart, […] where shall a sovereign remedy be found? […] From thine [heavenly power].” (Wheatley, 54. The Life and Works of Phillis Wheatley). I believe that when a person dies, family and friends should morn but also rejoice in the fact that they are going on to their eternal lives with the Lord. They are leaving all the evil’s they delt with on Earth to go to heaven forever.…

    Facing Mortality

First I am going to give a little bit of overview about how people other than myself feel about death and what they think death really is. “The word death comes from Old English deað, which in turn comes from Proto-Germanic *dauþaz (reconstructed by etymological analysis). This comes from the Proto-Indo-European stem *dheu- meaning the 'Process, act, condition of dying'.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death) There are also said to be many different processes that actually consider someone dead. Physiological death is seen as a process not just an event. In this process there is a dividing line between life and death that depends on factors beyond the presence or absence of vital signs. Clinical death is not necessary or sufficient for a determination of legal death. Someone that has a working heart and lungs determined to be brain dead can be pronounced legally dead without clinical death occurring. The medical definition of death becomes more problematic, paradoxically, as scientific knowledge and medicine advance. There are also different signs of death or strong indications that a person is no longer alive such as cessation of breathing, cardiac arrest, pallor mortis, livor mortis, algor mortis, rigor mortis, and decomposition. Cardiac arrest is having no pulse, pallor mortis is paleness which happens in the 15-120 minutes after death, livor mortis is a settling of the blood in the lower portion of the body, algor mortis is the reduction in body…

Death is inevitable. Everything that lives must eventually face death. There are two certainties and guarantees in the passage of life. The indubitable is the birth of an individual and death of the individual. The end of life for an individual is perceived as an enemy to humanity and a horrid event the individual and family are encountering. The pronouncement of the death is an afflictive and gut wrenching pain for the caregiver as well as the family. While dying can be considered a joyous occasion for the person dying, the thought of death is faced with uncertainty and fear. The dying often experience grief. The article, “Turn Off the Phone (and the Tension)” by Jenna Wortham, from the New York Times, can be related to most people in our generation. Our generation is filled with new technology and doing things faster and more efficient. I would say the majority of teenagers have smart phones with texting and/or internet. I feel that most people have forgotten to live in the moment and just to enjoy what is around them. I personally know many people who are constantly on social networking sites and updating pictures of their everyday life. For some reason, we care so much about other people's lives and what they are doing every second of the day. But I believe that we need to ask ourselves, "Is this even relevant to me?", "Does this help my life in any way?" I can completely relate to what this article is saying because I have also had these thoughts in my head.…

The dying process is a subject that many people do not like to discuss. To them it is a scary process and a lot of “what if” questions. Death affects everyone emotionally, physically. spiritually, and mentally. Death can occur in infants, children, teens, and adults and most people think that when older adults die that it’s okay but if some is young people say it was before their time. God knows when it is our time, even when we do not understand at that time. Looking at death, there are sometime situations that you can get help to prepare yourself and your family when a death occurs. There are three types of education that can help, which are crisis intervention education, routine death education, and death education for members of the helping profession (Feldman,…

    Philosophy of Charity

When it comes to charity, morality, and concern for one another, humans tend to vary drastically on how we feel and act depending on the circumstance and the individual. What makes this issue so complex is the fact that we are naturally set to want to help one another and be kind (in most cases) while at the same time being naturally focused on the survival and wellbeing of ourselves and loved ones over most other things. These natural settings, of course, are all influenced by the individual’s life situation. For example, a person with no family may be more willing, if willing at all, than a person with three kids to run into a burning building to save a random stranger from apparent death. What keeps us from helping others and what makes us help others is different for every individual. Although these differences may vary incredibly, there tends to be a shared feeling of the “greater good” that most experience.…

Throughout my life it has been an instinct to help out underserved populations. In Boys Scouts, I would volunteer to organize soup kitchen and food drives. I took this mentality into my collegiate career where I worked to bring meaningful aid to those in need. While I was vice president of my rugby club, I made an effort to have everyone in the club perform some form of community service. We worked with the animal shelters and local food pantries to bring care to those in need, all the while listening and developing ways to effectively help…

I believe that everyone has common fears, such as: spiders, snakes, water, clowns, the night, dying, etcetera. Those are the fears that people openly talk about and share. But then there are deeper fears. The ones that we keep hidden in the deepest crevices of our minds. It’s these same fears that drive us; either to better ourselves or off a cliff. It could go either way.…
