Medical Marijuana Argumentative Analysis
Throughout the multiple articles I have read, I have found evidence that medical marijuana has benefited people socially, medically, and economically in many ways. Socially, allows medical marijuana patients get out of the house and experience a better life giving them the aid they need to tolerate their symptoms and live life. The plant has given some the chance to live life longer than expected and more comfortably with terminal illnesses such as HIV. There any many other diseases that have had symptoms relieved by the proper usage of medical marijuana such as epilepsy, chemotherapy sickness, glaucoma, and multiple sclerosis. Like the Federal laws prohibit it but they don’t want to see the side of it that is helping people be able to live their daily lives normally. A big factor for some is a drastic decrease in medication resulting in use of medical marijuana and positive outcomes. In (Source 1) it says “Multiple medicines can be replaced by medical marijuana such as charlotte’s web the marijuana strain with high CBD that is found to limit neurological damage brought by diseases such as epilepsy and Alzheimer’s”. People who suffer from the terminal illness HIV suffer from extreme nausea and loss of appetite. With the use of Medical marijuana it has been proven to help patients regain their appetite and suppress nausea along with pain. (Source 6) “A study of 50 people found that HIV patients that used medical marijuana found less neuropathic pain”. A huge decision brought to some is to give the medicine a chance or let their feelings get the best of them and risk their lives. It has been proven that medical marijuana can actually help kill and slow cancer cells in the human body. Based on clinical trials the following diseases and/or conditions benefit somehow from medical marijuana use. AIDS/HIV patients were found to sleep better, eat better and have an all around better mood and even some had less neuropathic pain. Medical marijuana is found to help Alzheimer’s patients to gain weight and to suppress some of the agitated behavior. It is also proven that medical marijuana slows protein deposits in the brain which medical experts think might be a factor in the disease even though there is no real answer on the true cause of Alzheimer’s. A study with almost sixty participants with arthritis found medical marijuana use to suppress their arthritis pain and pain causing inflammation along with a better night’s sleep. Believe it or not, asthma is benefitted from medical marijuana use. It’s proven in early studies it reduced exercise induced asthma and could help open the human airways. A few patients experience a tight feeling in the chest and throats. A study with the same variables and controls was done on mice with similar results.     The use of marijuana can be very beneficial to a wide variety of people with cancer and other chronic diseases.
