I was awoken in the middle of the night. Ahmed rushed us out of our cots into the armory where we donned our armor and took our weapons. I was stationed in Jerusalem defending our holy city from the Christian invaders. I stood on the walls next to my brothers in arms. Our torches extinguished to see the enemy clearer. I felt the familiar tug of a full quiver on my waist, my recurve bow held in my right hand. Night after night we performed these drills waiting on the walls til the sun rose. Waiting to fight. Little did I know tonight would be one of my last standing guard. They didn’t attack until two nights later, swiftly they came out of the darkness. It started with a rain of arrows all of them a-flame. The dark sky …show more content…
After seven days of travelling I arrived in our hidden oasis. Don’t ask me how I knew where I was going, the Blessed one had led here. The close I came, the stronger the tug inside of me felt. Pulling me towards my new home. The oasis was hidden behind numerous large sand dunes, finding it without would be like a needle in a hay stack. As I crested the dune my breath was taken away. Below me was the oasis, in it’s center was a crystal clear lake. Surrounded by palm trees, it looked like nothing I had ever seen before. Especially after all the yellow I had seen in the past week. The Blessed had already constructed a home for me, it wasn’t the largest. Definately smaller than my old home in Jerusalem, but it felt more... Homely. Even though it had only three rooms it felt more spacious than my old home. The absence of a family can do that. When I pushed asides the front curtain and walked in I immediately felt at peace. From where I was standing in the doorframe I could see into all the rooms. The home was arranged in the shape of a Y, a central hub connected my bedroom and my writing room. It was a strange layout for a home, but I found it to be very comfortable. Always being right next to everything. It had been furnished, but I can’t say very well. Can you expect a god to furnish a mortals home well though? The bed was tiny, but the chairs enormous. My desk was a perfect height, but it’s width was strange. All the decor was conflicting, the wood in the kitchen was different than the wood in my bedroom. Lot’s of small things, no two cups were the same, and I only had one fork. I would have to make do with some things, but overall it was nice. I had out Amal and the mule in an adjoining
