Background
The Manila Metropolitan Theater was once the core of cultural life in Manila before it was ruined by the World War II. It stood full of pride despite being roofless after all the assaults of the war beautiful on its own but less taken care of. It was “a building that rises on the wings of a song”.1 Way back 1920 our country despite being on the Far East already had a metropolitan capital yet it had no theater that is at level to it being a metropolis. Filipinos then at that time had heightened cultural awareness. The lack of a theater to the metropolis was ceased by Manila’s Mayor Earnshaw as he forms a committee to prepare the groundwork for the project on September 1928. On the 27th of December 1927 stocks for the theater were made available in order to raise funds for the construction. The construction pushed on the first quarter of 1930, on the 10th of December 1931, the theater was opened. The very modern
