The most important part for me was hearing members share their story and their struggles to be sober. One of the gentlemen that spoke, shared having a relapsed after about years of being sober. It was a difficult experience for him and I could hear the frustration in his voice. There was a similar pattern throughout the room. However, everyone experience was different which creates an environment that members can learn from each other. The meeting was facilitated in a way that I was not expecting. The meeting was very informal. I thought it will be more structural like a classmate setting. However, it turned out to very informal. Some members shared their story which was good for me to hear because it brought on more awareness for me. And with that awareness, I became more empathic and companionate to an addict and what they go through daily. The meeting was ended …show more content…
Everyone got into a circle and put their arms every each other. This to me was a form of unity. It’s almost like we are all here, going through similar experiences, so let’s come together to support one another in this recovery process. The thing I took from the meeting is, everyone in that room wants to be clean and going to every meeting gives them hope of living a sober
