Melania Trump's Speech Analysis
The speech that I am going to examine, is that of Melania Trump. This speech took place at the GOP convention on July 19th. Melania was set to open for her republican nominee presidential candidate, Donald Trump. In every aspect of the speech it was successful and powerful in delivering a message. However, there was a strange similarity in her speech. It sounded as though we had heard it before. As many began to realize, her speech indeed did sound like a speech we had all heard before. Who’s was it, that it had such striking similarity to? Michelle Obama and her speech she delivered at the 2008 Democratic National Convention.
When Melania presented her speech, she was delivering it to thousands of people publicly and millions as it was televised.

The speech started out strong by reaching out to the audience and becoming personal with them. It talked about the current generation and the next to come. It talked about standards that her and her Husband uphold and seek to uphold in this country. The only strange thing about this speech was the fact that almost eighty-five percent of it was copied from Michelle’s 2008 speech. This is wrong in many different aspects. One being that this speech is set in one of the biggest public events of the nation and is also televised. Millions of people have now seen her speech and noticed the stark similarities between her speech and Michelle’s. Plagiarism is something that is looked down on and seen as being a dishonest person. This event caused the support of thousands to leave the side of the Trump’s, because of the dishonesty she represented.
It may seem as though this speech was not successful in bringing support from the nation to their side. Per contra this speech brought a different type of success. It gained media coverage, thousands of newspapers and media groups wrote about this event causing a lot of attention to the event. Even though it might not be positive media, it brought scrutiny to it which opens the door to looking at some of the positive sides of the Trumps campaign. In the end, the speech was a powerful one; but when its copied from a prior First Lady it loses its
