Mellody Hobson says that the issues have been ignored for far too long. William Ury (Getting Past No, 1993) says that we must "Tap the Power of Silence." As Mrs. Hobson stated, "it's time for us to be comfortable with
that uncomfortable conversation about race." The issue needs to be addressed by the people at all levels and deal with the problems that are plaguing our society and cause problems for many people. The issue is something that is hurting our society, our culture, and all of the racial group in America today. Living in a country that does not accept people based on their race hurts us all.
The barriers are dropping slowly but surely. The education system is open to anyone willing to go for it. There are still some barriers within it, but barriers were made and need to be broken down. The same is the case for people in the job market. The Pendelton Act of 1883 signaled a new era in personnel management, (Human Resource Management in Public Service, 2015.) It was broken and would take the time to fix, but it was a start. A start is a point that we all need to get to and then hit the ground running. The issue is not going to go away by ignoring it. We need to address it and deal with it.
