Mental Model/Mindsets Paper
It can be pretty tricky working when two adults have different opinions and values pertaining to the working world. Trying to balance find a balance in median is always a sensitive area. The reason issues such as these arise can be logistical; every ones opinion is of value no one wants to be put out or devalue. When it comes to AAA transportation, Vernon in Bud are both educated and valued employees at this company. They currently have new management; the new management team has developed some creative ideas for productivity. These ideas that are brought to the table are great, and can definitely help with progression. The current issue at hand is whether or not allowing nonperishable goods and products to be transported with their peers and refrigerated trucks because they 're going to do so. This will expand their clientele and the area they cover, which we 'll bring in more revenue for the company. Vernon and Bud currently disagrees with management 's decision. Therefore as a human resources representative, it is their job to add some perspective to the situation. Human resources representative can be a medium between the two parties.
Identifying Mental Models
It’s important to first identify what mental models are and what role they play in this current situation with AAA transportation and their two employees Vernon and Bud.
“Beliefs, ideas, images, and verbal descriptions that we consciously or unconsciously form from our experiences and which (when formed) guide our thoughts and actions within narrow channels. These representations of perceived reality explain cause and effect to us, and lead us to expect certain results, give meaning to events, and predispose us to behave in certain ways. Although mental models provide internal stability in a world of continuous change, they also blind us to facts and ideas that challenge or defy our deeply held beliefs.
They are, by their very nature, fuzzy and incomplete. And everyone has different models
(that differ in detail from everyone else 's) of the same concept or subject, no matter how common or simple” ("Businessdictionary.com", 2013). In order to understand why these two employees disagree with management 's decision, we must first understand their mindset towards the company. To identify mental models you must first understand human reasoning. In this view, mental models can be constructed from perception, imagination, or the comprehension of discourse.
The Four Steps to Changing Mental Models
The first step is to changing mental model is to; recognize the influence and limits of the models. The next step in the mental model is to check the significance of the mental models against evolving environment and the ability to generate new models. The third step is to thwart inhibitors, for example not enough information, lack of trust, the inexplicable need to hold on to old behaviors, and the expectations of others. The last step is to put the model to use, evaluate the model and constantly strengthen the model. Although these steps may seem complicated and easier said than done, and they are properly implemented, it can be a great resource tension in the workplace.
The Five Forces
According to Howard Gardner, there are five forces that lead to the future of the business. The first is disciplined mind. This stage is about continually evolving becoming master of one 's self and emotions, and learning. The second step is synthesizing mind. A person with a synthesizing mind is able to filter on important details and get to the heart of the matter. They are able to place together pieces of a puzzle in a meaningful way that it makes sense to others. This pursing focuses on the big picture and eliminates small details. The third step considers the creating mind. Gartner suggests that talent is equal to or even greater than personality and temperament. This person is daring and willing to experiment and take chances. Next is the fourth mind known as the respectful mind. This person is open-minded and is open to different point of views and has an adverse to prejudice. Also this person believes in giving people second chances and the benefit of the doubt. Finally, the fifth mind is the ethical mind. According to Gartner “[He] emphasizes that this is a ‘more sophisticated stance than respect’. Such a person is highly reflective of herself as well as the context and others” (Von Stamm, 2008).
Vernon and Buds Point of View
These five steps are very important to human resources. New management at AAA transporting has decided to implement new practices that may not sit well with season or better employees. It is up to management and human resources to understand that employee’s mental mind so that they may know why they feel one way or another. A mental model mindset has its importance in this situation because it evaluates the Vernon and Bud’s thoughts on the explanation of working things out in way. The mental model usually begins inside the human head and in order for human resources and to understand their thought process they must have the ability to get inside the heads of these two individuals. The mental model serves as a map; as an internal image for the neighboring process. It is influenced by several forces such as social change, physiology, thinking capacity and mental ability.
Solution
Recently AAA transporting has hired on new management. This can be a good thing however sometimes ideals can clash. Luckily, this is the type of company that values the opinions of its employees. Bud believes that the plan to transport perishable goods with nonperishable goods. Vernon believes that expanding outside of its core area is a bad idea. They have come to human resources with their concerns and our role is to relay the message to management. From that point it is imperative for the better or greater good of the company that they come up with a happy medium.
Conclusion
It can be extremely difficult for management to implement new ideas into a company, especially when management is new to that said company. There 'll definitely be those who disagree, but with ex-clinic human resources there is always a solution. Finding the employees mental mind is imperative towards finding a solution because it shows you how they feel personally on issues. When it comes to AAA transporting, Vernon and Bud may disagree with the new management style, their ideas are always welcome.

Innovation is the process of using ideas within a company to create new products, services, technology, or processes.
