1. John D Rockefeller was a famous American businessman and philanthropist. He was the initiator of the Standard Oil Company, which later became the leading company in the United States oil industry. Despite of this success, Rockefeller had to go through a harsh childhood. Born in a six children family, Rockefeller did not receive too much attention from his parents. Rockefeller’s father was a lumberman while his mother was a homemaker. Consequently, Rockefeller had to experience a laborious childhood to assist his family’s financial problem. He used to help in the general household chores and also earned money from rasing turkey, selling potatoes and candy. Despite of this harshness, Rockefeller was still very tenacious and very keen on studying. He soonly showed his great talent in numbers and accounting. In 1866, Rockefeller joined his brother’s oil company. He went steadily ahead in business from there, making money each year of his career. As a result, his company grew prosperously and became one of the most profitable oil company in the United States industry. Rockefeller became a billionare.
