Metaphors In Dover Beach

In “Dover Beach” My favorite metaphor Arnold uses is, “Breath of the night-wind”, comparison of the wind to a living thing.

In “His coy mistress” My favorite metaphor would be in the final lines of the poem, which employs a variety of fun techniques. The simple imagery of the word “Sun”, which made me see yellow, orange, and red as I read. To deepen the image he combined personification. I could see a red-orange blur. The sun is also another metaphor for time.
