Michael Craig-Marin's Artwork

Michael Craig-Marin’s work is unrealistic, it’s modern and is conceptual while Harmen Steenwyck’s work is more realistic, dark and looks very medieval (even though it wasn’t painted in the medieval period). The colour MCM used in this piece of art are complementary and they contrast from each other and are not the original colours of the real object. While the choice of colour which Harmen used are the actual colours of the real object if not, they are close. I also notice that Harmen shades a lot on the other hand, MCM doesn’t.

Harman’s paintings are about life, these types of paintings are called vanitas, and each and every object placed in his painting had a meaning to it:
The skull means death.
The hour glass could be linked to the skull
