Michael Jackson Thesis Statement

[ROUGH DRAFT] “I don't understand why the press is so interested in speculating about my appearance, anyway. What does my face have to do with my music or my dancing?” These are the words of the late pop star sensation Michael Jackson. He indisputably had everything in the world—fourteen Grammy awards, seven American Music Awards, four decades of number one hits on the US Billboard charts, and a hundred-million-dollar home in Santa Barbara, California in which he dubbed as “Neverland Ranch.” These are the kind of possessions people can only dream of in their sleep. He had all of those things but was still judged for being himself, a person of color who ultimately turned white. Jackson consistently told the media that his discernible change of skin color was due to a disease called vitiligo—when the immune system attacks cells that produce melanin, the pigment that determines skin color—however, none of the press and community alike
The media pointed out that it was for vanity, attention and acceptance. They pursued the idea that Jackson changed his skin pigmentation to attempt to fit in with Caucasians in hopes in being accepted in their culture. Why would someone with so much attempt to do that absurdity? It was not Michael Jackson’s liability but no one else than the people, the community, and the nation around him. America has been indoctrinated to the belief or ideology that being a person of color is incongruous or indecorous in which in some cases is seen by some as an immoral sin. The idea of having one shade of complexion be superior to the other is plain absurd. No individual chose what they were going to appear when they were born, but half the population suffers from something they had no jurisdiction over.
