As for the “Safety Training” episode of The Office, one would not want a safety training to occur like this at their place of work! In the episode, the group starts downstairs in the warehouse, where they learn about the dangers of bailers and forklifts. Then, all the employees head back upstairs to learn about the dangers of sitting too long, typing too long, and that they need to take breaks for stretching. In typical Michael Scott fashion, Michael is upset that his white collar workers do not face as much danger as the blue collar workers down in the warehouse. Del descibes the office employees as “brown nosers and idlers” while Michael Scott “proves you need neither strength, courage, or competence to lead.” While the show is a hilarious representation of the office environment, it is neither accurate or realistic. However, this suspension of reality is also what makes the show so great! Rather than worrying about whether or not Michael is like a real boss, that element is taken away, and the show can just be enjoyed for its comedic
