He also inserted things that are considered symbols of passion like the cross that Christ was crucified on, the pillar he was flogged on, and a crown of thorns on Jesus’s head. Michelangelo put Christ at the center of the painting because in all of the translations he is the one to make the decision on whether a person goes to heaven or hell. He seemed to depict heaven with the top half of the painting by making it lighter and having actual colors still mixed into it whereas with his hell depiction he makes it darker and gives it a more depressing look to it. In the hell half of the painting it looks like all of the people are fighting and that there is death; while in the heaven half the people look like they are
