Introduction
The Midwifery Model of care is defined in part by the old English etymology of the word, which means “with woman.” The role of the midwife is to provide the individual space for the woman laboring with as little un-natural inference as possible. (Hunter, 2002) The preferred and most common birth attended by midwives is at home birth in the studies reviewed. Midwives are becoming more common in a hospital setting. This opens the discussion if midwife practitioners provide better birth experiences and out comes in the home setting rather than hospital.
